is this for Britain? if so, then yes

Hell yes! I'm not British-born, but i am a citizen. It makes me angry to see that half of the homes for OAPs (first floor flats that were sold off to council, etc) are being filled with foreigners. It's ridiculous. It seems as though asylum seekers and immigrants get first grabs at all the benefits there. But if you have lived there and worked there all your life, you practically have to give your first born child - and second - just to get any sort of compensation.
I live in the states, and its just like the illegal immigrants here. they get TONS of freebies - health care, housing, etc - but American- born citizens have TONS of red tape to go thru, and still dont get half the benefits.

The real problem is that there is not enough council housing. Thatcher's policy of selling off houses to tenants at reduced prices was a great mistake. This Labour government isn't building nearly enough houses or flats. So, they're not much better than the torys.
Asylum seekers are rarely given council properties. When they do get them they're usually flats in areas nobody else wants.
Economic immigrants with large families will eventually get an offer of accommodation. A young English born couple will look at such an offer with justified anger.
If the BNP thrive it will be because both Labour and Conservative governments have failed to provide enough housing for the people.
We should look after our own people first. The people who come here to try and make a better life for themselves and their families should know that initially it will be a struggle, but it will be worth it eventually

It kinda makes sense that the people who were born in the UK and who have grown up there should get priority on the housing list - it's only an island after all - with just a small amount of council homes that are available. Unfortunately things seem to be working the opposite way right now. It doesn't seem very fair at all. :-/

I do!!!

I have an 18mth old daughter who has to sleep in the same bed as me because the council will not put me first for housing. she has had to do this since she was 10mths old this is all because i go to work, can you believe it???
they recommend you don't sleep in a bed with a baby for fear of suffocation, but do the council care????

I'm a single parent who goes to work but i don't earn a lot of money so am unable to rent privately.

I know there are not enough houses for everybody but at least putting us first gives people like me a chance.

If they stopped giving house to people who have just arrived in the country as refugees or whatever and sorted out there own ''people'' it would make the system a whole lot fairer.

I live on an estate, and all the houses that have become available have gone to refugees, immigrants and alike.

I feel that its not fair for British born citizens because we get pushed to the back of the queue and this sort of behaviour from the government just encourages people to come into our country because they know they will get a house, benefits, free health care etc...

But hey, this is only my opinion.......

Yes i do.
There are so many homeless people that need housing first..
Also families that have to live in smaller properties, because there arent enough.
Definatley british citizens should come first. Also amount of time on housing list should count, but doesnt seem to,.

properly between the Conservatives election pledges replaced into to introduce a British bill of Rights to swap the Human Rights Act yet like each and every thing else interior the Conservative manifesto the promise has been skipped over by the government whilst they have been given in. that may no longer stable adequate to pay no heed in any respect to the platform upon which you stood once you ought to enforce a minimum of a few of it. like the pledge on a referendum on the ecu ... and for this we can't stand. whilst Cameron tries to start up his re-election campaign i've got self belief he will locate the comprehensive grass-roots help (the activists that definitely do the footwork) have all left and at the instant are campaigning on behalf of Nigel Farage.

Of course, what the point of being British, if others are being treated better than our own ? Immigrants should not be eligible to receive any benefits until they have lived and worked here for a minimum 5yrs. Its about time we took care of our own first.

No.

Birth right is no right. If you pay tax then fair enough you have a claim to go higher up th list than those who don't - but if you have not worked / payed tax and expect priority over those who do work or even those who don't but come here seeking work or asylum then you have a skewed view on merit.

The countries own people who were born and bred there should be put first.
Especially those amongst us that have paid taxes.
I believe that immigrants although should be given somewhere to stay should not be allowed free government hand outs at our expense.

I am quessing that you are British. Yes I think citizens of any country should come first before immagr ents. I live in America and it seems that illegals get more help than the working class does in the states. I am in the process of moving to another country myself! Not England, don't worry. I feel our goverments have let us all down.
