Well first off, the Supply and Logistics contract Halliburton has in Iraq, was not a no bid contract. It was bidded on and won by Halliburton.

People tend to think that every contract Halliburton has in Iraq is a no bid contract.

Only the Firefighting and Oil Field parts were under the intital no bid contract.

And as to Profiteering, here is what KBR has done that last several years.

Just look at KBR:

In 2004 KBR lost 303 million dollars.

In 2005 KBR made 240 mill on sales of 10.1 bill, profit 2.4%

In 2006 KBR made 168 mill on sales of 9.6 bill, profit 0.94%

Now I don't know about you, but 2.4% and 1% profit doesn't sound like profiteering to me.

Those numbers are for KBR in Iraq and everywhere else, not just Military contracts.

The military contracts that Halliburton and KBR have in Iraq, are all " cost plus 1% " contracts.

That means they are guarenteed 1% profit. Thats it.

try the links below.

It might help if you actually did some research once in awhile.

yes and yes.

the fact that haliburton business (not stock) has gone up by over 100% since bush and cheney took office and that this has never even been investigated shows how utterly corrupt our govt has become.

on the one hand the govt will speak of the benefit of privatizing much of what our military does, and then offer multi-billion no-bid contracts to haliburton.

the reasoning for this SOCIALISTIC POLICY is that they say that no other company can do this.

if that is the case, then why was this privatized in the first place - that is the question never asked by the so-called liberal media and never answered by the pimps we call leaders...

Robert Greenwald did a documentary on this very subject

Empty trucks going back and forth because Halliburton is paid by the trip....hundreds of examples of outright theft of American tax dollars.

War profiteers...The only thing lower is the people on here that will defend them

Can I have a no-bid contract too ?

Most of the people Greenwald interviews are in the military, or Halliburton employees. Watch how quickly Greenwald will be ripped by righty...the "Support the troops" crowd...unless the troops give interviews to Robert Greenwald

Only Republicans can defend the Indefensible....no conscious

Haliburton is the new leftist bogey man. Everyone seems to forget that they were Bill Clinton's favorite company when it came to awarding contracts to do difficult jobs. He often by-passed the usual bidding process to award the job to them. The reason? Was Bill Clinton an Oil Tycoon? Was he in the pocket of big oil? The answer is the same for any president. In many instances, Halliburton is the only company that is even willing to take the job.

Many Halliburton employees have lost their lives providing the fuel, food and other essential equipment our soldiers need. But for some kind of political expediency, the democrats have made them a target.

You will have to ask democrats why.

Robert Greenwald is another Michael Moore wannabe.

The truth is it's not clear whether it is the big oil running America today, or an affiliate of there's...
One thing is clear tho...big oil has put the nations integrity in the global trash heap..and our governmental participation in the conspiracy to get it there has gone unchallenged, for the most part.
It's not going to be quickly or easily remedied now, ether..!!!
The fats in the fire, we are committed politically, financially, internationally, govern-mentally, and infra-structurally...the next obvious step in the sequence is tax increases...the price of oil has put a substantial crimp in the spending habits of the lower, and middle class of Americans, and that will affect the revenue of government spending...they WILL raise taxation to compensate for there drop in moneys...
The next presidential office will have no choice...these last 6 -7 years have cemented our fate to another round of taxation increases. Haliburn'um and Bushwack did exactly what they proposed to do when they were campaigning... we got what we voted for.

be careful with that "thinking for yourself" stuff, they don't like that.
Both our president and our vice president are oil tycoons. what do you expect? Cheney has stated he has no intrest in Haliburton anymore, does anyone know if this is true, how about his family? if my humble opinion yes, bleeding us dry, but we brought it on ourselves.
