I've been stammering since Birth. It does'nt mean that i don't have confidence. There are certain words which i know i'll stammer on, and while speaking those sentances i stammer.
I have been told to speak slowly by many people, but it was not at all beneficial to me. Some times when i am very angry. and when i shout on some one i don't stammer, but i generally stammer. And this thing is lessening my personality.
I did too less stage show.
I don't go in front of masses of people.
I don't like to meet any one much.
Some of the words i stammer on in hindi and some on while speaking english, like T,K, P etc.
Very rarely i stammer whhile singing a song. but very rarely.

Dear Yogesh,
you got already some good advice. Here some more thoughts:

The hint that you stammer less when angry at someone or singing, could mean that you have stored anger in you which needs to be neutralized, since you may not want to blow anger at others.

Anger is our reaction when we feel that others have violated our authority. This may have happened to you in childhood or in a past life.

Anger is suppressed, when the subject we are angry at appears too mighty so that we cannot release the anger immediately, but sum it up at repeats.

Anger and stammering together may tell that there was a person making you angry by violating your authority and then not allowing you to express it by screaming or yelling. If this is so, only your unconscious may know, yet, you can release all the old load. You do not need to recall the cause in order to totally dissolve it!

Yes we can change the past, not the facts but our feelings about them!

Singing takes us closer to our true self expression, which may for sometime override the anger by taking us into a different state of mind and being.

Yet, anger about the justified past situation does not help any more, it has lost its original meaning.

Here is where I would start to neutralize the past.

I would look into the free Bio*Chakra Light Meditation and practice it. It does not take much time and is easy to do. After 4 weeks you may sense a change and in a few months you may be over anger and stammering. It may be worth a try.

Another way would be to use Bach flower remedies. You may want to read the characteristics of when a specific remedy is applied and choose the one that fits you most.

Or, you may want to seek the help of a homeopathic physician, to help you with anger and stammering.

Yogesh, you would not have ask this question if you would not be sincere about overcoming what you do not need any longer. I feel that you will be successful and may be a great professional speaker!

Wishing you all the best,
cordially, India.Magica

This is something which can be cured. It is sad that it is having such a devastating effect upon you. Did you know that George VI had a stammer -- yet he was able to get over it and make speeches without a hitch. The minister of our church says that he used to have an appalling stammer, but if he hadn't said so, I would have found this hard to believe, as there is no hint of it when he preaches. There is an organisation and I hope this link will help. http://www.stammering.org/cure.html

I realise that this is not a UK question. I apologise for this, but suggest that perhaps this link could help you trace a similar organisation in your own country.

There is NOT a cure for stammering or stuttering. Those feedback devices that people say are a cure, don't work for everyone and are very expensive. If they do work for a stutterer, they are right back where they started when they don't have it in.

Several of my uncles and cousins used to stutter, and all of them overcame it by working diligently through the book "Self Therapy for the Stutterer" published by The Stuttering Foundation of America. One also went to a speech therapist who specialized in treating stuttering.

Your best bet is to check out the web site at www.stutteringhelp.org and read the wealth of information there, especially in the brochures section. You can e-mail them to see how much it would cost to get their book sent to you. info@stutteringhelp.org

Another organization that is good is the Palin Centre http://stammeringcentre.org/s-index

why dont you go and see a speach therapist. i have heard of people singing instead of talking but i cant imagine that in conversation. Maybe you are supposed to practice like that.
