Yup, that is the great commission! I never have read an infomercial in the Word...

Do you think John the baptist was on the side saying and just today if you call in the next 20 minutes , you, yes you, can own some of these healthy locusts!!!

Spreading the Gospel is very important, and needs to be done outside the church building as much as possible. Other things need to be done by a church too (although selling vitamins is a stretch), like helping to feed the hungry, heal the wounded, clothe the naked, and give hope to those who feel none.

So many people forget that the church is more than a place to hear preaching. Trust me, the atheists love it when we forget our job and stay in our pews. Get up! Get out! Get moving!!! Go do something to bring glory to your God.

This is true the church needs to preach the Gospel to bring people to savaltion. They also need to have other messages from the bible, in order for a Christian to advance past the baby stage of a Christian. The bible says to move past the milk and honey and get on solid food. Salvation is the first step, then there are so many more awesome things in store for us the God promises.

I don't bother with television any more.
Hucksters.
Generally in church, teaching is what happens, as the congregation is largely believers.
Preaching is generally to the non-believer.
Most of us will put an evangelic note on the sermon, with a clear invitation at the end.

I'm not a church goer because I dont like the idea of being told how to believe and what to believe. I have my very own brain and I'm able to use it. Religion should be about an open discussion gathering where people can go, read and interpret what they read, without having to believe the way their leaders want us to. Church should be about worshipping God, not about brainwashing.

The only problem I have is the ones who leave no room for any other opinion. Its all or nothing. That drives more people away than it draws in. Jesus accepted people where they were at that moment. Many "christian" churches don't.

I agree with what you are saying. I watch some of these shows and I think that they have become distracted. But I do see what they are saying... that our bodies are the Temple of God and we should keep our temples healthy. And we do need to be healthy. But remember, that our personal relationship with Jesus is what really matters.

I think that is true, it seems like the only religion that is preaching the gospel and trying to help people to Jesus are Jehovah's Witnesses.
