I believe they do it because they are men that woman don't want and because they don't want women to enjoy sex. They are jealous that women enjoy it more than them!

Sometimes men are ill of the mind and get the urge to make themselves feel superior to women. Sometimes the man may view the woman as "Wanting" and take it as a sign to go ahead. He sees her as being "Hard To Get" so they pursue them through it. Other men may have been sexually abused in their past and feel that women deserve punishment or the same pain they were witnessed too. I don't know exactly why a certain man does it but, I do know they are mentally ill and need counselling.

Women who falsely accuse a man of rape should go straight to jail. And of course a female rapist should go to jail too..rape is rape. She should be locked up for as many years as a man would. Even if a rape case is dropped because they find out it was a false accusation the man's life will never go back to normal. Once their face is shown on TV and they are known as a rapist their reputation will never recover 100%. I was watching Dr. Phil a few months ago and the show was about a girl who claimed a few boys (I can't remember the exactly number of boys..I think three) raped her but then a few months later she told the truth and said they never did. She did it because she was trying to get back at her ex for some reason (I am having trouble remembering all of the details of the show). Anyway, his life didn't go back to normal once the news said he didn't actually do it. People still looked at him as if he was a rapist. He had lost his job and lost the feeling of security he had. It's terrible.

I had a criminology class back in college, and from what I remember the central issues for serial rapists (I guess all rape is brutal) is one of power/domination over the woman and loss of judgment by the rapist. It's the same thing that causes men to commit domestic violence. Cases of date rape are different in that they do in fact have a more prominent sexual gratification component.
