You should take the flea collar off. The chemicals on it can harm the skin.

If you really want to protect your dog against fleas/ticks and even mosquitos talk to your vet and get Frontline/ Frontline Plus/Advantix.

Flea collars ward off fleas and ticks around the collar but do nothing for the rest of the body.

Also the over the counter flea prevention medication can be harmful to your dog. Go through your vet and order the medication. It's good up to a month per dose.

Good Luck

I would take it off while bathing the dog but you really shouldn't rely on the flea and tick collars to much because they really don't work very good. Go to the local pet shop and get some Flea and tick treatment that can be applied to the skin. It lasts a month and it is more effective. Good luck

NO! Absolutely not! And not because it loses effectiveness, but because the chemicals in it will soak into the poor dog. They are dangerous things anyway.....that's why they say that children should not touch them. Well, if a child can't touch it, why is it safe to put on a dog? Don't use Frontline or any other flea killer either. The *best* way to protect your pup against fleas and ticks is to have it in top condition, by feeding it the best you can, and minimum vaccination. (Every three years is now the recommendation.) My dogs never get fleas or ticks....they are raw fed and not vaccinated. You can also, if you want, dust the dog's body with Brewers Yeast powder.....fleas and ticks are deterred by this. Or add 4 drops Tea Tree Oil, and 4 drops Eucalyptus Oil to one pint of warm water, and use this as the final rinse for your pup....very effective.

Flea and tick collars are ineffective anyway. If you want to truly protect your dog from fleas and ticks, use Frontline Plus or Advantage. We get dogs in all the time with tick collars on and ticks all over their face and flea bites all over their body.

Don't use a flea and tick collar they don't do much. Use frontline or another one that you put on the puppy coat and it is absorbed into the skin. Throw the collar away!

you shouldn't need to because you are cleaning and there shouldn't be a ick or flea in the bath tub.
