Rather than red yellow and blue I think of the colors printers use as "pop-arty." Try magenta, cyan and yellow. Green in small ammounts, and the purple in the background of your avatar is also a good choice.

It would help to know what make and model your camera are, but Rebel Yell and Fredshelp have given you good answers for general purposes. You have to learn to understand how the colors will be interpreted by your own camera and make adjustments. By this, I mean both in the camera software AND in the time of day or type subject that you choose. Lighting and native color will both effect the final outcome greatly. Take a picture of the same scene once an hour for an entire day and you'll see. If your subject is not buried in shade, late in the day gives an orange glow to some colors. Shooting after a rain or even during a rain can help in some situations.

It's not the color exactly -- it's the intensity with which they were used.

Look at some of Andy Warhol's work and you will understand what I mean. He used a wide range of color but it was the values, the intensities, he used that made the color "pop."

If there is a museum in your area that has a pop art collection, go and take a look at it first-hand. When you squint your eyes, the drama of the what these artists were trying to achieve will become completely evident to you.

green, orange, or purple may work for you ... find some examples of past Pop Art - it may give you some inspiration. The most well known pop artist I can think of is Andy Warhol - look to some of his previous works for color ideas.

Strong bold colours. It doesnt really matter that much as long as they don't blend in together and have strong black lines. Pop art looks quite cartoony. Look up ANDY WARHOL
