I'm a sucker for chocolate brown walls and lighter accents, like beige or tan. Maybe throw an orange or gold into the mix of accent pieces. :) Good luck!

The sky's the limit! What colors do you like? Black and white are like a painter's canvas, just waiting for you to add color. Do you like dramatic? Add red pillows on your sofa and some wall art with red. Stripes and zigzag patterns are very popular right now. Again, use in sofa pillows and maybe an area rug underneath your glass table. Whatever colors and patterns YOU like are what's important. Look at your wardrobe and see if anything pops out at you. Or go to a paint store and pick some sample paint chips to take home. Another idea is to go look at home decorating accessories and find something you LOVE. That will give you a clue.

Well there are a couple way you could go to get that look.
Shades of gray are very classic and modern and with the right accent colors can be engergetic as well. My favorite grays right now are: (Sherwin Williams colors, can be found online and matched in any brand)
Rushing River (SW 7746)
Willow Tree (SW 7741)
Mountain Road (SW 7743)
Stick & Stones (SW 7504)
Pair gray with brighter accents in furniture curtains and accessories, but not too bright. You dont want it to overwhelm the room. Try subdued shades in a medium value. Some of my favorites are:
Greens:
Agate Green (SW 7742)
Recyled Glass (SW 7747)
Yellows:
August Moon (SW 7687)
White Rasin (SW 7685)
Warm Blues:
Tranquil Aqua (SW 7611)
Aqua-Sphere (SW 7617)
Make sure the room has plenty of light if you plan to stick a meidum to dark color in the room. Unless you like a cave-like atmosphere. ;) Good luck and have fun!!

The perfect colors are ones that you like. Lighter colors make the room look larger. Go to the paint section of a Home Center and pick up color swatches. Take them home and compare to your furniture and accessories.

Look in your closet. What color combinations do you wear most often? If you feel good wearing those colors, you'll surely feel good living amongst them.
