The apostle John in his first letter talks about the antichrist, equating it to those who do no longer settle for God because the daddy and Jesus because the son. a million John 2:18-25 GW 18 children, it is the end of time. you've heard that an antichrist is coming. truly, many antichrists are already the following. it truly is how all of us comprehend it is the end of time. 19 They left us. even if, they were under no circumstances fairly area individuals. in the adventure that they were, they might have stayed with us. yet through leaving they made it sparkling that none of them were area individuals. 20 The Holy One has anointed you, so all of you've understanding. 21 i'm writing to you because you comprehend the reality, no longer because you do not comprehend the reality. you comprehend that no lie ever comes from the reality. 22 who's a liar? Who else even if the man who rejects Jesus because the Messiah? the man who rejects the daddy and the Son is an antichrist. 23 anybody who rejects the Son would not have the daddy both. the man who recognizes the Son also has the daddy. 24 ensure that the message you heard from the starting up lives in you. If that message lives in you, also stay interior the Son and interior the daddy. 25 Christ has given us the promise of eternal existence. Later interior an same letter the apostle announces - a million John 4:13-15 GW 13 all of us comprehend that we stay in him and he lives in us because he has given us his Spirit. 14 we've seen and testify to the actual shown truth that the daddy despatched his Son because the Savior of the international. 15 God lives in those who declare that Jesus is the Son of God, and they stay in God.

The bible says that anyone who is against Christ is the Antichrist.
1 John 2:22-23 "Who is the liar but the one who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, the one who denies the Father and the Son. Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father; the one who confesses the Son has the Father also."
The rest of it is simply taught by the churches in order to scare people. When John wrote Revelation he was referring to Nero, the Romans, and the Seven churches.

Another case of "let's find something in the Bible to support our pre-chosen beliefs." You're right, Revelation doesn't say "anti-Christ", though it does refer to "the beast", whose mark is 666 (a.k.a., "Nero Caesar", which in Hebrew numerology is 666). The whole book is about Roman persecution and how the Christians will ultimately get through it. It isn't a prediction of end-times.
They like to patchwork Revelation with Daniel. These people really need to read up on their history. Daniel isn't about the modern state of Israel, it's about the Maccabean Israel. But since Protestants were so quick to throw the "Apocrypha" out of the Bible, they don't know anything about the time. Israel was independent for 70 years (sound familiar) and the temple rededicated to God. The rededication is what Jews celebrate with Hannukah (more or less). The prophecy of Daniel is already fulfilled (actually, written after the fact); it isn't about "end times" either.

Just because it doesn't happen to appear in Revelation doesn't mean the term wasn't used in the Bible. The Bible may not refer to a specific person, but it does mention a "spirit of antichrist" in the world, so i'd imagine that spirit can indwell someone to be the person the Scripture speaks of in the personages of the Beast and the False Prophet.

Bingo.
The bible (which already has questionable origins) in the hands of someone with an agenda (and a sufficient following of blind unquestioning believers) can be used to justify or prove any wacked out theory - even both sides of contradicting arguments.
You are exactly right - Revelations was intended to be a warning about events that were going on at that time. They had to use the wacked out pejote induced 'vision quest' prophecy sounding rigamarole to keep Rome from knowing that it was actually subversive literature.
Otherwise they would've all been tortured to death.

It's the same as the gods of science using words like "anti-matter" Just a term to describe a concept. A rose is still a rose by any other name. Don't worry about the words, it's the idea that counts.

God how I would love to be there when the LAST Christian realizes that that's what Revelations was about...I just want to see the disappointment on their faces when they finally understand that the only prophecy in the bible that ever came true was the prophecy they selected when they composed the (damned) book. Will he or she (no, you know it'll be a he) go out back and burn all the rapture-party hats and hooters ceremoniously in a bonfire or just toss them in the garbage?

Revelations 20 says : And I saw an Angel coming down out of heaven, having the key to the Abyss and holding in his hand a great chain. He seized the dragon, the ancient serpent, who is the devil, or Satan and bound him for a thousand years........
When a thousand years are over Satan will be released from his prison and will go out to deceive the nations in the four corners of the earth......
And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur, where the beast and the false prophets had been thrown.
This is just another word for Satan or the Devil.
God Bless

The anti-christ is the devil himself. Thus, the devil will incarnate on earth as a human being in the time of the end. THE LORD GOD will give him power so that the scripture will be fulfilled as to Judas Iscariot. This was mentioned by THE LORD JESUS CHRIST saying let the scripture be fulfilled and so Judas became a traitor. The devils power on earth will be the power of technology, as the anti-christ will be more a technological man than a real man. It is because, the Prophet Daniel prophesied that this sinister man-the anti-christ will worship the god of fortress-technology. In fact, the anti -Christ willl plan to declare himself as the true Christ in the City of Jerusalem. But as it is written the anti-Christ will fail in his claim as the true Christ. His plan will be thwarted by the two witnesses of GOD in Jerusalem prophesying for 3 1/2 years. ALL THANKSGIVING BELONG TO THE LORD; ALL WONDROUSNESS BELONG TO THE LORD; ALL PRAISE BELONG TO THE LORD; ALL GLORY BELONG TO THE LORD; ALL HONOR BELONG TO THE LORD AND ALL WORSHIP BELONG TO THE LORD.

Exactly, remember that organized religions have created "bible studies" for their own agenda. You've have probably never in any Bible study group, I've been in a couple of them and it's complete nonsense. Instead of reading the Bible in the order it's published, organized religions read one chapter or verse and then start jumping back and forth to explain it. They use either the Old Testament or the New Testament, depending on what it's convenient for them, not for God. The Bible says a couple of times that "God is not a God of confusion", meaning he never intended to confuse anyone. The confusions are created by organized religions for their own good.
