The left behind movie of several years ago portray the final events culminating in a Secret Rapture. Could their be another point of view regarding the coming of Christ? Will his coming be literal?

What does the Bible really mean when it says in Revelation 1:7 that "Every eye shall see him" at his coming? This doesn't appear to be secret. Explain.

It will be literal, just as the scripture descibes. Jesus is not subject to the limitations that we are as humans, so we can't say for sure how he will make this so.

Christs coming will be literal the Bible says so. As for the Secret Rapture theory its just a theory. It is not Biblical. They have taken a couple of texts and distorted them. When you study a topic in the Bible you have to gather all the text together then and only then will you understand the whole context of the topic. You can't pick and choose a text here or there.

I once heard a story about a man who was very depressed and was considering suicied. He decided to open his Bible to get some help. He didn't know where to start. So he decided to just open his Bible any where, close his eyes and put a finger on a verse. Then he would do what it said. He looked at the verse his finger was on and is said, "go and do likewise." So the man prceded to hang himself. Does that sound like the proper way to read the Bible. I think not. The Bible gets so many misinterpretations because of this.

The Bible tells us that It will be literal. Read Acts 1:9-11.
It will be visible, read Revelation 1:7. It will be audible, read Matthew 24:31 and 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17.

The Left Behind series doesn't portray the "final events culminating in a Secret Rapture" -- the final events are fully consistent with OT passages such as Isaiah 63, where all nations are aware of the Messiah's return. So yes, His return will be literal.

Instead, the Left Behind series portrays the Rapture as an event prior to the Tribulation (they also postulate that the Rapture is prior to the Ezekiel 38/39 invasion of Israel).

It's important for you to understand that the Rapture does not involve Christ's RETURN to the earth; instead, He remains in the heavens (atmosphere) of the earth.

Matt. 24:36 - many sects try to predict the coming of Christ. But Jesus says, "no one but the Father knows the day and the hour." The sects that try to predict Christ's coming ignore these words.

Matt. 24:36 - we should also note that Jesus’ statement does not mean than Jesus does not know the day of His Second Coming. Jesus does know, because He is God. With this statement, Jesus explains that He chose to know by His human knowledge only that which He wanted to know for His mission of salvation. In other words, Jesus could have chosen not to know everything by His own human knowledge, but Jesus knew everything in His human knowledge through its hypostatic union to His eternal and infinite divine knowledge.

Matt. 24:44 – Jesus warns us that the Son of Man is coming at an hour we do not expect.

Matt. 25:13 – Jesus says “watch therefore, and be prepared, for you know neither the day nor the hour.”

Mark 13:35-37 – Jesus says “watch because you do not know when the Master of the House will come - watch!”

Luke 12:46 - the Master will come on a day and at an hour when He is not expected.

Acts 1:7 - Jesus says it is not for us to know the times or seasons which the Father has fixed by His own authority.

1 Thess. 5:2; 2 Peter 3:10; Rev. 3:3 - the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night.

James 5:7 - be patient until the coming of the Lord. Those who try to predict disregard this inspired teaching.

Rev. 22:20 - Jesus says He is coming soon, but He does not tell us when He is coming. Because Jesus says we do not know the day or the hour and will be surprised at His coming, it is silly, and disobedient, for people and groups to predict His coming. We, instead, need to be about the business of growing in holiness, so that we are prepared for our Lord when He comes again, no matter when that will be.

you need to watch that!
this give you a different idea of what propaganda says of the coming of Christ. No matter what you hear or see from society, if you feel ready, then should you be worried?

Also passages in revelation, are simply that, revelations. not prophecies, not a glimpse into the crystal ball of the future. they are simply revelations of what may come if our society doesnt live by the world that came previously in that same book. It is all about perception and objectivity. It can be compared to reading tarot. it is merely a prediction, if you did this and are doing this now, this may happen. Follow your moral code, and if you feel that you are going to see the face of God, then it wont be a secret to you.

Dear Friend,

The Bible says that:

Luke 17:24
For the Son of Man in his day will be like the lightning, which flashes and lights up the sky from one end to the other.

Matthew 24: 26"So if anyone tells you, 'There he is, out in the desert,' do not go out; or, 'Here he is, in the inner rooms,' do not believe it. 27For as lightning that comes from the east is visible even in the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. 28Wherever there is a carcass, there the vultures will gather.

We can gather from this that Jesus return will be very visable and undeniable!

God Bless

(Revelation 1:7) No doubt John was here reminded of Jesus’ earlier prophecy concerning the conclusion of the system of things. Jesus there stated: “Then the sign of the Son of man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will beat themselves in lamentation, and they will see the Son of man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.” (Matthew 24:3, 30) Thus, Jesus ‘comes’ by turning his attention to the executing of Jehovah’s judgments on the nations. This will result in momentous changes on earth, and since “all the tribes of the earth” have ignored the reality of Jesus’ kingship, they will indeed experience “the anger of the wrath of God the Almighty.”—Revelation 19:11-21; Psalm 2:2, 3, 8, 9.

During Jesus’ last evening with his disciples, he told them: “A little longer and the world will behold me no more.” (John 14:19) How is it, then, that “every eye will see him”? We should not expect that Jesus’ enemies would see him with physical eyes, for the apostle Paul said, after Jesus’ ascension to heaven, that Jesus now “dwells in unapproachable light,” and “not one of men has seen or can see” him. (1 Timothy 6:16) Evidently, John meant “see” in the sense of “discern,” just as we can see, or discern, God’s invisible qualities by means of his creations. (Romans 1:20) Jesus “is coming with the clouds” in that he will be just as invisible to the naked eye as the sun is when it is behind clouds. Even when the sun is hidden by clouds during daytime, we know it is there because of the daylight that surrounds us. Similarly, though the Lord Jesus is invisible, he will be revealed like ‘a flaming fire, as he brings vengeance upon those who do not obey the good news about him.’ These too will be compelled to “see him.”—2 Thessalonians 1:6-8; 2:8.

I agree with you. It will not be secret, but Satan is going to try to hide the fact that all the Christians disappeared. I think that its going to happen after the mark of the beast too, may think before. I think that some Christians will be on the run, and those will be the ones that get raptured.

Christ does get resurrected, but not like most people think. What it means is you become one with existence, your soul becomes illuminated and the separation that you were creating between you and God is dissolved. Then you too and your Father become one. Not that you ARE your father (God), but that the walls of separation no longer exist and you experience the oneness of the fabric of consciousness.
