Last night my manager (just at a pizza shop) told me he'd like to take me out on a date. I said I didn't know and I would think about it and until then I asked him to please keep this a secret from the rest of the staff until I made any decisions. He said he would. I have to work tonight and I don't know if it will be awkward or not...What do you think I should do? I could see myself liking him. But not sure if the owner found out, If we could get into trouble.

Dont poke the payroll.

It is never a good idea to have anything but a professional relationship with another employee or employer.

He is your boss, even if it is just a pizza place.
He can determine your work hours, your performance evaluations, and your future with the company.

Saying no could get you fired as easy as saying yes.

What if you someday become his boss?
Breakups suck when you got to work together.

Just not a good idea.

I think you just answered your own question. If you're not sure, then don't go out with him. You know if you like someone or not, so your hesitation says you dont' really want to. To avoid awkwardness, use the owner's disapproval as your reason.
