Christianity is supposed to be the religion dedicated to the teachings of Jesus Christ. So why do so many Christians quote Paul(Saul) of Tarsus more than Jesus?

Surely if you are Christian and you believe Jesus is divine, the words of Jesus should take the highest priority over all other words? Why then are his words rarely quoted in Yahoo answers, yet virtually 9 out of 10 New testament quotes are Paul and over half of all Biblical quotes are from the Old Testament?

When Jesus is quoted, why are so few quotes ever used- the most common being " I am the way..no one comes to the father except through me..etc"?

Why are other gospels quoting Jesus like Thomas completely ignored?

Please only genuine answers. Please no Biblical quotes, just your own words. Thank you.

In actuality there are probably NO quotes from Jesus in the bible the way it is today. Christianity is really Paulianity.

I loved you answer about Moses. Excellent information.

Because from Genesis to Revelation is the word of God.

Paul wrote most of the books in the New Testament. He is probably one of the greatest writers of all time.

Paul's writings and teachings points the world to Jesus Christ and nothing else. His words were inspired by God.

Before Jesus, God's people were identified by physical circumcision. After Jesus, God's people are identified by spiritual circumcision. I suppose I'm quoting Paul by referring to a circumcision of the heart, but it's not a matter of chickening out. It is entirely and 100% consistent with Jesus' commentary about fulfilling the Law. Jesus came not to abolish the Law but to fulfil it. For example, the Law on adultery was fulfilled - no longer is it just a physical thing, but there's a mental component added (looking lustfully at another person is adultery in your heart). In this way, the physical act of circumcision has been fulfilled to a spiritual component of being circumcised in the heart - to cut oneself off from worldly pursuits and to devote oneself to Jesus.

I don't know what Christians you are around, but at my church Jesus is quoted the most. However when other 's are quoted, it's in relationship to a teaching of Christ. Jesus taught lessons that were recorded by the apostles. So when you quote an apostle then you are in reality talking about what Jesus taught. It all goes back to Jesus, his life and teachings.

I agree totally. Probably because of the Catholic influence as Paul helped to found most of the sister churches and did most of the communications.

Pauls views seem totally contrary to what Jesus was. Jesus stopped them from stoning an alleged fornicator and then took her in and she annointed him with oils, meanwhile Paul says don't keep the company of fornicators or eat with them.

Jesus was trying to rectify and modernize the OT and Paul seems to reenforce it (well he was trained Jewish and didn't have JEsus' insight).

Reading Paul is like reading the 2,000 THOU SHALT NOT commandements.

Jesus feared nothing and went knee deep into the leper colonies. He dined with the Pharasee and jousted with them. He was taking on Biblical scholars since he was 5 or 6.

Paul seems to fear his own shadow and worries that people are weak, which they are, but they have to find the way and the light and you don't do that by avoiding things.

I fear no evil when I walk through the valley of the shadow of death for I know the Lord is with me. That's a cornerstone.

Paul is like a JW, lock yourself away and don't go out into the world because what you find there will corrupt your soul.

The idea is not to hide from temptation but to resist it.

Dear Friend,

Most of our Brother Paul's teachings were given to him by Revelation from Jesus, and in addition to this his other teachings were based upon the teachings that Jesus left. Not that it matters, the Bible teaches us that ALL scripture is god breathed, i.e. it was given to the author from God, as they were borne along by Holy Spirit.

The heart of all of Jesus teaching was love, this was the message that has been given through all of the new testament. And since 'we love because God first loved us' and because of the above, All scripture has equal value, after all God decided that they should all be included in the Bible

God Bless

Because all scripture is God breathed, or inspired by God.
Christians are lead by God's Word, which is the bible and Jesus's teachings are found in it, along with Paul's..and other inspired writers, who were also inspired by God.

Because of the battle between the Jewish Christians and the Pauline Gentile Christians.

Paul invented the Christianity we know.

The Gospels were written later, and they are not very accurate.

St Paul is a member of the Holy Spirit and the head of THE HOLY SPIRIT is THE LORD GOD called EMMANUEL. Thus, when they quoted Paul, Paul was not talking for himself as being sent by THE HOLY SPIRIT he talked what he heard from the LORD JESUS CHRIST as HE is the One WHO sends THE HOLY SPIRIT in the image of a saint-St Paul. To backtrack my explanation, THE HOLY SPIRIT is a HOLY WORKING GROUP among THE LORD GOD-THE HEAD and AMIDST HIS THRONE IS THE LAMB; THE SEVEN SPIRITS (angels) before the throne; the spiritual communion among the Prophets and Saints around the throne of THE LORD GOD and the spiritual community of angels all around the throne of THE LORD GOD; and the image of this group is the human image of VIRGIN MARY-THE MOST BLESSED WOMAN..Thus, anyone among these members maybe sent by THE LORD JESUS CHRIST which is likened to the angel of light that was sent to Paul in the road to Damascus. Thus, the HOLY SPIRIT was in the image of the angel of light. Also the HOLY SPIRIT in the image of archangel Gabriel was sent to deliver the full of grace of VIRGIN MARY; and the HOLY SPIRIT was sent to KIng David's immorality with Bathseba in the image of Prophet Nathan; and the Holy Spirit was sent in the image of Prophet Jeremiah to warn King Zedekiah of Babylons attack. Similarly, the HOLY SPIRIT was sent to Fatima and Lourdes in the image of Virgin Mary. So as a conclusion though in the physical sense they quote more times St Paul than THE LORD JESUS CHRIST, it is because ST PAUL being a member of THE HOLY SPIRIT was sent by THE LORD JESUS CHRIST and what St Paul all said all came from the mouth of THE LORD JESUS CHRIST. THANKS THE LORD; FEAR THE LORD; PRAISE THE LORD; GLORIFY THE LORD; HONOR THE LORD; LOVE THE LORD AND WORSHIP THE LORD.
