I'm having 8 people over and we're going to have a crab picking. I was curious how many crabs I should purchase. Would a bushel be enough, or do I need more?

I have had 12 people over before.... I bought 3 bushels .. I sent people home with some.. They good part was we all pigged out but then like 3 hours later we all ate again.. So you have to think People might want more later....HAve a good time.. I love Crabs .. Best part of summer

Count on 3 to 4 crabs per person. Blue crabs don't have much meat, and it is a chore to get, especially that from the body. You'll want 3 to 4 different vegetables as well, and lots of them. you'll also want a really good bread to serve. That is what your guests will really eat. They will all remember the crab, but they will get their fill on the veggies and bread.

Crab legs are the best food in the entire world.... If I were you... I'd always make enough dinner for 2 times as many people that are coming over... just to make sure! you never know.... but they are expensive.... so not to much over....

but 12. its always better to take the amount of food (i.e. crabs)...you have and double it, then subtract half.
