I find my dog just naturally goes to one area all the time. I've seen these plastic 'fire hydrants' you can stick in your yard that is supposed to attract your dog via scent to an area. They can be found in pet catalogs or search online.

Wishful thinking. Get out the scooper and reflect on the good things about being a dog owner.
Although, you might have a little more luck if you have a female dog. My male makes the rounds marking the various trees and such each week. He has a pattern of sorts. My mother's female, on the other hand, has one spot of the yard she likes.
Just be grateful the dog is going outside, rather than inside.

Hi, I understand that you are looking for some advice or resources to help fully train your dog or fix behavior problems. If a professional dog trainer is not an option at this time, or if you want to trt training your dog on your own (a great way to bond), I'd suggest you https://bitly.im/aMSwL
A friend recommened it to me a few years ago, and I was amazed how quickly it worked, which is why I recommend it to others. The dog training academy also has as an excellent home training course.

You can train a dog to do lots of things, including poop in one place, or even to poop when given a voice command (like they taught Bill Clintons dog. The relief on that dogs face when he bolted off Airforce 1 and dumped on the runway, lol.). Takes time and effort, and you need to clean up asap so it doesn't get overloaded or the dog will go elsewhere. Hang around after a feed, dogs often dump within 15 minutes of eating, and encourage him to do it where you want him to. Praise him afterwards.

Yes you can there at the pet store is some spray you can buy to spray where you want your dog to poop or pee. It worked on my dog Chubby and my other dog is just potty trained. Also you can put (drag) him/her in the spot you want her to use the bathroom and eventualy he/she will mark that spot as a territory. So every time you take her/him out they will go to that spot.

MOST dogs will choose a spot and always go there. All of mine do! They go to the corner of the yard and go and run from it when they are done. They will not even fetch a ball if it goes over there. lol
That said, I would think you can teach them by taking them to the same area over and over and giving praise.

Yes - you can, however, it will take some time and patience on your part. You have to put the dog on a short leash - take him outside to the particular spot you want him to use. You must be consistant or it won't work and the dog will not understand. Once he goes where you want - reward him immediately with a treat.

it can be done...you have to consistently take the dog to the area and reward it with treats when it poops. Some people fence of a run with gravel, take the dog there first and when it does its business, reward him!

Yes; take him (her) to the area you want it to poop in ( on a leash) when he does it and get him used to it. Give it a treat when he is done.If he does it anywhere else, scold him but do not strike him. Be sure you learn his normal time when hi is ready to poop

You certainly can, take your dog to the spot you want him to go, ( on a leash) and stand in one spot, let him walk around you sniffing, but don't move. Reward him when he goes there, and keep taking him to the same spot everytime on a leash until he goes there on his own. I trained my german shephard to go in one sopt...I am sure you can. Good Luck
