Lmao.
Thanks Markyyy.
Yes, it's not everyday you see someone go from being a hard-polytheist to being a atheist. Kallan is right, it was something I struggled with for awhile.

Nope, it has no effect on my beliefs. If I was so easily swayed I'd be a Baptist right now instead of a skeptical atheist. This is rather your point, isn't it?
It is pleasant to know that Lokasenna has freed herself from the some superstitions.
Mmm, the sweet smell of Friday and the freedom that it represents. A good day to celebrate Lokasenna's emancipation.

Going Postal's answer is the exact reason why the stories of Jesus and other stories in the bible are believed so to be true. If a rumor, misinformation, or a lie (intentional or not) is passed around long enough and to enough people, it becomes accepted as truth. Then, no matter what the evidence against, those who believe it to be true will fight to the death to defend it. His answer is also the exact reason why nobody tries to "check" the origin of what they believe. "Everybody says so, therefore, it must be true." Why should they check? And, if they respect the originator (person or book) they won't check even if they wanted to for fear of showing disrespect and possible repercussions from others who still believe it to be true. We see this all the time with so called "urban legends", chain letters, and political correctness. I am, by no means, denying the existence of a Creator. That's something for each individual to decide for themselves. But to refuse to question ourselves and others and to refuse to admit when we've made a mistake, no matter what the topic, is totally irresponsible and a disservice to ourselves as well as everyone around us.

I doubt very much that Darwin recanted. What may have happened was that he reaffirmed his belief in God, but it is clear that many believers are also Darwinists. They simply say, quite reasonably, that Darwin described the mechanism by which God (or Mother Nature, or whomever) created everything.
Lokasenna must explain her atheism herself, or not, as she chooses.

Proves that people have free will and that intelligent people are open to new ideas/thoughts-some they may even adopt to their belief system or purge from their belief system.
Oh, and Welcome Lokasenna! (cheering and clapping could be heard in the background...)

It turned my whole world upside down.. lol kidding.. but I am happy to see Lok finally at peace. I watched her struggle through all of this.. it was a very difficult decision for her to go from a hard polytheist to an atheist... I'm very happy for her.

It gives me a warm, fuzzy feeling inside... like there's hope that the world can be rehabilitated and saved from it's current state of dementia. As if one day our children will place their faith where it's needed and belongs, in themselves and their fellow man.

It doesn't affect my beliefs at all. My beliefs don't depend on anyone else's, and they're not so weak that everyone around me has to keep propping them up.
You know, this is the first conversion I've seen here.
