Probably get haters from all sides on this one but. I am married to a Christian, not religious, lady. We sometimes watch TV shows, and to her credit, she can now see the total shams out there, but,Joel, actually,I like him. Have you ever watched? He really speaks mostly about how to live today, not all the fire and brimstone crap, but about "what can you do today to make the world nicer?"I really don't have a problem with his message,as to me,he has the ability to pick the good parts and focus on them, rather than all fire and brimstone. That is a compromise I can make. I don't have a problem with inserting"my conscience" when he speaks of the "holy spirit" moving you to do a kind deed. Generally speaking,he has a great message about LIVING,doesn't dwell on the "afterlfe" much at all. Anybody watched him?Anybody like him? Have I succeeded in pissing both sides off?I'm trying to compromise here. Aaand, let the "thumbs down" begin...

Searcher. What he DOES do is speak about what we can do for our fellow man. Jesus even spoke that when you help the poor and visiting the sick, you were doing that FOR Jesus. Is there no compromise?Everybody go to hell or nothing?

Warhorse: I like him because he preaches love, not hate. And he actually spends the entire sermon on that. Are we so crass as to only accept that which preaches how wretched we are, what is wrong with promoting good behavior?

I'm a European atheist, so I haven't seen much of him.

I've seen him on Larry King, and what I saw there I actually liked, even if he seems to have gotten a lot of criticism for what he said there.

He had the guts to at least answer a few questions with "Gee, I don't know" or "I'm not sure", which is far more honesty than I've seen from any other televangelist.

But as I said, I hardly know anything about him.

Smiling Joel Olsteen.....does he have any content to what he
talks about ....we are to test the spirit.....does he speak of Jesus Christ as God coming in the flesh and this is the only
way for salvation.....you decide. Sounds like you like him because his message has no conviction. To each his own.

I won't give a thumbs down on this! I'm a Christian and am not impressed at all with Joel Osteen.

I think that he's crossed the line from being in a ministry of God, to being the ministry. When I saw that his logo is his initials on the pulpit, that kind of lost it for me.

He specializes in what I call the comfort of Christianity. All about what God can do for you. But does he talk about what we should be doing for God?

I've seen Joel OSTEEN on t.v.
He's the same as any other tele-evangelist. He may not speak about "all the fire and brimstone crap" but he plays the prosperity card over and over again.

I'm a Christian....

He preaches a gospel that is way too fluffy......not once have I ever heard a sermon from him concerning sin & repentance.

Not good

You really have to look at what his focus is on. Come on, now, what it is REALLY on. Then ask yourself if it lines up with scripture.
The Bible warns that phonies would come along saying things that people want to hear, scratching their ears...does he do that?

I think he blinks way too much! Count how many times he blinks in one minute. They say those who blink constantly are giving misinformation (liars). Something to think about anyway.
