please do not listen to these people i own a 2004 3.9l v6 mustang. the 3.8 was having problems at the end of 2003 so they took the 3.9l from the windstar modified it and that is why only the 40th anniversary mustang has the 3.9l v6.

there is no 3.9L mustang. the 3.8 was used from the 1994 redesign through 2004. the 4.0L was used from 2005 to current.

they use different alternators. the 3.9 is not listed in my alldata or in the aftermarket cataloges.
