We last saw peter being flown up into the sky with his brother, Nathan, where he exploded far above new york. Obviously, nathan is dead, but did peter survive?
In the episode "five years gone", the heroes had failed to stop the disaster and Peter had exploded, killing millions of people. But he was still alive in that episode!
however, i'm still not sure wether peter is alive or not. Could anyone clarify this for me?

Okay, think back. First, Peter has Claire's regenerative ability, so even if he exploded there's a chance he could regenerate. Also, it isn't obvious that Nathan is dead, because Peter also has his ability to fly and could have flown away from him before the explosion. The whole point of going into the future in "Five Years Gone" was to come back and CHANGE the future; since the explosion happened in the air, obviously NYC wasn't destroyed. The fate of Peter, Nathan, Matt Parkman and Sylar was left "in limbo" so there would be a definite cliffhanger, although popular opinion says that they're all alive, with the possible exception of Parkman. We'll find out in September.

Peter is a power mimic like Rogue or Black Alice, he can absorb the abilities of others including Clare(excelerated healing factor). So one would assume that he could heal himself from...well basically blowing up. So i say yes Peter Petrelli will be back.

I bet they prevented the explosion in New York, but, Sylar still returns disguised as Nathan and takes his place in the senate (or congress, whichever he just won election into) anyway.

Yes, he's still alive. And he doesn't physically blow up, his body releases huge amounts of energy.

that's is a tough one! if his brain is injured he dies. so i assume when he is blown to pieces his brain is too. but you never know. he is a key character in the show and it wouldn't be the same without him. one more thing: you think cylar is really dead?
