My dad has long passed on. But if I had one wish it'd be for him to know how much he was loved and respected. He wasn't wealthy or any reknown. But he never turned anyone down if it was in his power to help and he never expected anything in return. I didn't even find out until he died that he had earned a purple heart and never claimed it. When I was small, learned he had been in WW II & told him he was a hero he had always told me he was simply in the right place, at the right time and CHOSE to do the right thing. No more, no less. The real heroes were those who never returned or came home broken in body or spirit.

He always told me he had no dreams or wants besides coming home from the war, having a home, family & food on the table. He never thought he ever made much of a difference. His words were always; "just did my best, like anyone else". Yet at his funeral there was standing room only and it seemed like everyone had a story to tell me of some way he had helped them and how much they'd miss him.

So my one wish for him would be he'd know how much it mattered that he lived and how much more, not less, I've grown to love and miss him as I've learned not just who he was as a father but as a man.

For all you that are grown and your father is still alive don't wait for his death to learn who he is and love him just as he is. I think that's one of the greatest gifts we can give our parents is knowing and understanding their humaness and loving them just the same, if not more.

Well my dad has this bad habit of at least 3 near-death experiences, and 4 tickets every year. He was also taken from his family at 4 years old and became a hated foster child. Then he was booted out of his foster family's house at 18. His 'dad' handed him 20$ and a bottle of champagne on his graduation day and told him to get out. He rarely got to eat on a regular basis bc he was fresh out of HS and trying to make his way to Cali. When he got here he got a job and saved up 2000$ which he loaned to a friend in a bad spot. He didn't eat all week bc he gave his money to his friend. His buddy said he could come eat at his house later that week, but then asked him to leave in the middle of dinner bc he was making his family uncomfortable. He has been through sooo much. My dad is the strongest man I know. His family means everything to him. He's already lost 2 kids and it broke his heart. If I could have one wish for him, it would be for safety and happiness. He deserves it more than anyone I've ever known.

My father is actually my stepfather, but the only one I know. My wish for him is to feel the same love he has given us without question. It is one of the greatest feelings in the world. He joined the navy so he could marry my mom and take care of this already made family, even though not his own. He didn't have to be the father he was. What more makes a man? Nothing. He is one of the greatest men I have ever known. He not only took care of us, but he has spent 20yrs taking care of every american. Thank you to our armed forces and every father in our country. Happy fathers day!!!!!!!!!

If I had one wish for my dad it would be that I would like all the pain to leave him. He is waiting for a knee replacement from VA Hospital. He injured it while fighting in Vietnam for our country. My father received the Purple Heart back in the 70's and from there he has been in alot of pain from his knee, hips, and he also has no kneecap in the left leg so his leg can not bend no matter what. I love my father very much and the family hates seeing him in so much pain. About 7yrs ago they finally granted my dad as 100% ddisabled so he can not work anymore.

That he could have the use of his arm and leg again. He had a stroke 4 years ago and is in a wheelchair. Before his stroke he was a hard working labourer and very fit and active. He has lost his spark and I would love for him to have it back.
