and to those of you saying he was a fake: paul was a man with a whole whole lot of authority before he was called to spread the gospel. he was a pharisee, ''a hebrew among hebrews,'' who was beheaded for teaching christianity. why would a ''phony'' give up that kind of status and power, only to live in poverty and die like a criminal?

Some people are personally offended by what Paul wrote. They don't agree with it. They don't want to be obligated to obey it. So they try to escape from what Paul wrote by discrediting it.

Under divine inspiration, Paul carried over into Christ's Law the necessary things.
Things regarding sexual immorality is some of them.
Things that those that want their 'ears tickled' doesn't want to hear.
Paul didn't need the years of teaching the other apostles got from Jesus. Paul was a Pharisee, the son of a Pharisee and knew the old Mosaic Law well.
Jesus led Paul on what to bring over to Christianity, but since those 'necessary things' cramps most of the world's lifestyle, they refuse to accept those things.
You see, the world wants to start partying and screwing around on a Friday night on through early Sunday morning. Catch a few winks, clean up and go to church as a form of penance. Then work the work week feeling forgiven and still saved, just to begin the cycle over the coming Friday night.

Because by the time Paul came on the scene christianity was already headed back down the dark pit of legalism.
Judaism was already being practiced in christian circles such as the practice of circumcism, sabbath, etc.
Paul set people straight and really didn't contradict Jesus at all. You have to remember Jesus was sent for the Jewish people. Not for the gentiles. The age of the gentiles happened after his resurrection.
Without Paul then Christianity today is null and void for everyone except for the nation of Israel.
As is seen in history God will use someone else for his purposes when his original crew slacks off. The old testament is filled with similiar situations.

Unfortunately for Don H he didn't get the meaning of the words in Acts. Saul of Tarsus did meet Jesus on the road to Damascus when he had his conversion and became Paul the apostle. I think that many people don't understand the importance of Paul's messages to the church. Also people don't like for someone to point out to them the things that are just flat out wrong for the Christian believer to participate in. People don't like rules and guidelines. They want to make things up to suit their own lives and their definition of what it is to be a Christian. Paul's gospels step on toes and people don't like that. This is a more modern day phenomenon. People in the early days believed and held to Paul's teachings.

What I would like to know is, if Paul was a "fake," then why did most of the apostles agree with most of his teachings?
Personally, I feel that Paul's writings are VERY important. Romans is one of my favorite books in the Bible.

Because Paul was a self appointed apostle who never actually met Jesus.
A phony who's teachings were almost the exact opposite of the teachings of Jesus.
Love and blessings Don

The devil is doing everything he can to discredit paul so that Homosexuallity and other very evil things will be okay. (mine is gossip, just as bad as being gay in the eyes of God) The problem is, without Paul, we don't understand the struggle with sin, and the grace that God still extends to us when we struggle.
