One who has a point to make- at the end the sacrifice is stopped and it is made clear that human sacrifice is NEVER allowed!
On top of that- in the Jewish version isaac is NOT a child at the time he is 40 years old. he could have easily overpowered Abraham who was well over a hundred at this point, but submitted, knowing it was God's will.
In the end, it shows that God is loving, that God would never allow a parent to sacrifice a child, that God has no desire for human sacrifices!

God never intended Abraham to sacrifice His son Isaac. He just wanted to see Abraham's willingness to do so. This was an illustration of what was to come. One day God would sacrifice His own Son for the sins of the world.
Abraham knew all the promises that God had made to Him were bound up in His son Isaac whom God had commanded Him to offer up in sacrifice. He may even have figured out that He was acting out a prophecy. We can't be certain. But when Isaac asked where the lamb for the burnt offering was, Abraham had this to say.
Genesis 22:8 And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering:

God would have us know just how terrible sin is and how far we have fallen from righteousness. In the sacrifices He shows that having sinned against Him it would take the shedding of blood to cover our sin. The animal sacrifices pointed to, or pictured the Messiah who would come to lay down His life. Abraham and his experience with Isaac was also a test for him and as the father of all believers this also foreshadowed our heavenly Father who sent His Son and did not stop the sacrifice but our of love the Father and the Son went through it willingly that the price of justice might be met for all Gods people. Men sinned and the justice of God requires that man pay for sin. Jesus was the only sinless man who could pay for sin and gain back favor with God.

If you read carefully about Abraham, he had a very close relationship with God. He had strong faith and complete trust in His leading and guidance.
When he was asked to sacrifice his son, he went along as requested because he trusted that God will provide the lamb. In that time on child was sacrifice.
God is caring, loving and kind hearted, He wouldn't do such a thing.

You need to know a little about Islam before supposing or using your own logics.Islam was not created by Emporers or kings like Chistianity.
The Quran was not writen by any Islamic writer! Nor Islamic laws were designed by human counciles!
Quran was not even written by prophet Muhammad! since he was unlearned person! It is a direct revealation - Word of God! Quran is the one and only Holy Scripture still unaltered and well preserved since last 1400 years.
Old Testament and New Testaments both long lost and not available in this world in their original form, text and languages - Aramaic / Hebrew ! What is available now is based on human memories. Many versions of Bible are available in the market but none identical to each other nor they can claim to be the correct and original version?
Quran is not a story book like Bible nor it was copied by Bibles. However the basics of Monotheism are the same because the writter is the same - I mean The Almighty God - The Lord of Universe!
Now comming to your question about sacrifice:
Bible says it was Isaac but gives no reason for his sacrifice - leaves the believers in doubts like you have in your mind; a blood thursty God?
Quran came to remove such wrong perceptions created by racial Jews who always treated Arabs with hate!Hagar was actually the princess of last dynesty in Egypt and God sent Abraham for her release but she was treated by Jew writers as slave-girl of Sara? because Hagar was the mother of Arab tribes.
Quran gives reason for this sacrifice - It was the Abraham's love with his son Ishmael which came between the love of God! Abraham was put to test for his love of God!
Abraham love with his first born Ishmael was natural because for 13 long years Ismael was the
center of his love. So the test was fair and logical. Isaac was the 2nd son born after 13 years
hence there was no such thurst for a son!!
Hope you find a fair answer.
Peace and Blessing!

If that would not have been revealed to you by the Holy Gost you would have not known. !!
That is the Glory and mission of the Messiah, Today we do not see sacrifices, well except for those supposely committed by cults, fraternities and idiots. Point is it was the man who started this game of excusing himself the easy way.
If you know Jesus in your heart you will know he never sacrificed a thing, but himself and that is for us because that was the deal the man had done with God.
Jesus said the scriptures are good for studies, So you must be strong in judgement as Jesus when he heald people in the Sabbat.

Brothers and Sisters, all of us know the story of Ibrahim's sacrifice and we say that it was a test by Allah (ta'ala). But do we really understand what Ibrahim went through ? Do we appreciate what it was like to be Ibrahim ? Can we grasp in thought what happened ? Why is it that we regard Ibrahim as the father of faith ? What was it that he achieved ? God needed to test Abraham, to see if he would give anything up, that God asked him to. For what God planed to use Abraham for, He needed to know he wasn't going to be another Adam.

God was testing Abraham. He said, "Are you willing to give everything to Me?" This was also foreshadowing as God did sacrifice His only begotten son Jesus Christ as a sacrifice for sin.
Ishmael was not the son that the promise to Abraham was to be delivered. God promised Abraham that he would have descendents that numbered like the stars in the sky or the sand on the shore. Many tribes of people. The fulfillment of that promise is Jesus Christ.
For through Christ alone can ALL people come. A person can come before the God of the universe and whereas he justly deserves death. He can find mercy and eternal life.
That is what differs between Christianity and all other religions. Almost all religions are based on man trying to reach and please a god. Christianity is God's best effort to reach men and have them spend eternity with Him for His pleasure.
Whereas you must do something to in order to "earn" your acceptance. Go kill someone, mutilate yourself, whatever to prove yourself worthy to come to this god.
Christianity's difference. "I love you, I died for you, and I offer my life as a sacrifice so that you may come freely before the throne of God as a child and not servant trying to appease Him."
God got angry also. If you read of Christ's overturning the sacrifical tables and chasing the money changers out with a cat of nine tails. Remember this was in the Jewish Tabernacle. The "religious leaders" of the day were scamming people out of their money.
"Oh, you can't sacrifice that animal. It's not approved by us. We'll sell you this approved lamb for 200 of your lambs."
Jesus said, "You have turned my Father's house into a den of thieves and it is supposed to be a house of prayer."
God told them in the Old Testament that He had grown tired of their sacrifices. Because they were throwing anything before Him.
The sacrifices were meant to see where the people's hearts were. For example, you have 20 lambs and all are spotted except one. People thought that spotted lambs were inferior or diseased. So do you give your perfect lamb as sacrifice to God and hope that He'll show you favor and provided more unspotted lambs OR do you sacrifice the spotted lambs and hope that God won't be angry?
I've seen people give everything and lose it all. Yet they were content because God stripped it out of their life so they focused more intently and got a heck of a lot more joy out of what they were doing.
You know in the New Testament. The rich young ruler comes to Jesus and says, "Good teacher, what must I do to have eternal life." Jesus says, "You know the commandments, honor your father and mother, thou shalt not steal....." The ruler says, "I have kept these from my youth..." Jesus then says, "Take all that you have and give it to the poor."
The rich young ruler walks away dejected... Because he was serving a false god, "Money, prestige, power..."
You know the funny thing is, we'll never know what would have happened if the ruler had said, "Okay, if that is what it takes..." Jesus may have said to him, "You are wise to give up what you can't keep for that which you could not lose. Keep your money for the time being."
I guess it is all based on do you believe God and to what extent.
