they don't turn me on and they don't turn me off....there are several things that are big turnoffs to me though...
1. It is a bit of a turnoff however if a person doesn't do their homework and ends up with a really awful tattoo...bad tattoos are a turnoff and look silly.
Good tattoos just tell me that the person went to a good artist and knew what to look for - so I guess that is more of a turn on but not because he has a tattoo...more because he looked into what he wanted and took the time and effort to make sure that he got a good one and not some crappy ink.
2. Chinese/Japanese/Korean characters if the person does not know anything about the culture even but that they just got it because they thought it was cool. For some reason, those bug me to no extent.

A guy with tattoos is a turn on. to me. probably not to other people, as we can see by the lengthy explanation of a grim reaper above.
There's only certain people who are going to be attracted to a guy covered in tats. You might meet the love of your life in a mosh pit. But you sure aren't going to meet her in church. or at a PTA meeting.
It's not always a turn on though. If a guy is covered with jailhouse tattoos, or just stupid tattoos that he put no thought into, then i'll probably avoid him.
It also depends 98% on the guy inside the skin. If he's a jerk, then it doesn't matter if he has the best tattoo on the planet.

I think you need four things to be able to pull them off.
1. The right body. Muscles and six-packs are definitely not needed! but you need to be toned.
2. The right personality. It sounds strange but it's true! you should get a tattoo as a way of showing people a bit more of your personality, not because you think it will give you confidence or a different persona.
3. Good taste. Naked women, skulls and other grim and vulgar such things are definitely not attractive to me ..
4. Meaning. Tattoos that have symbolic meaning or a story behind them are always interesting, I think it's quite romantic. "I just felt like it" is pretty dull to be honest.

It really depends on the person! Big time.... Some people, tattoos fit very well with and I *do not* at all mean, people who are 'trashy' look good with them... no... I just mean, some people they fit well with. Take Angelina Jolie for instance.. I think shes gorgeous and beautiful and all those great things, and I think tattoos fit her... But on some people, tattoos wouldn't look so well. I think it partly has to do with a persons personality and then partly their general outter appearance that would determine how approprite or fitting, a tattoo would be on them. Make sense?
Although I do like when a guy has a tattoo...not covered in them, thats not attractive in the least bit... But my boyfriend only has one, on his arm, and I like it. Thats perfect...one or two, is enough and its kinda sexy on some guys.
Like I said though... some people carry them well, others maybe not so much... When people are covered in them...very unattractive in my opinion

sometimes- some guys look great with tattoos, but i like particular ones - prefer black tribal-style art to anchors, naked chicks, i love my mum/[insert name here] - good well-done tattoos are good, cheap pointless tattoos are a turn-off.

no! To me they make a person look dirty, you can't tell what the tatoo's are till you get next to the person, half the time you're sorry you looked. I myself, when I take a shower I want everything to wash off. To me, tatoo's are a real turn-off, especially if a guy has very many of them, from a distance, he just looks dirty all over because like i said, unless you're right next to a person you can't tell what it is, it just looks black like a dirty mechanic's skin.
Then alot of times they're some evil looking picture or a naked woman or other paraphenellia, which says alot about a person without ever meeting them. My neighbor used to be a really attractive looking guy, until he shaved his head and tatooed flames across his skull. GROSS!
The worst tattoo I've seen was a full sized picture on a man's chest of the grim-reeper! He was standing in line in front of me without a shirt, He was real tall so when he turned around, the grim-reeper stared me in the face! How could he ever make love to his woman,( if he ever gets one) she'd have that staring her in the face the whole time. When he turned and left the store, he had the full size of the picuture of the backsdie of the grim-reeper solid black, all the way down his back and the front was also solid black with red eyes.
I would NEVER, EVER even consider going out with this guy even if he had asked, I couldn't believe how such a good-looking, well built, handsome guy could ruin his looks that way and run this risk of pushing women away. Men have gorgious skin! Why do they want to ruin it? A man with nice, clean beautiful skin to me is a turn on.
