Hair, clothing and record stores are all very 'lax about those types of things. As long as you don't have giant spikes jutting out of your face (a little drastic, but still... you have to think sensibly) you should be alright. Anywhere with an office environment is probably out of the question as it's not seen as professional. I've been contemplating the same things as of late. I'm heading into an artistic career so it's more acceptable for me to have the piercings that I do. Just look around... some professions tolerate them better than others.

Usually a lot of very religious people are against tattoos & piercings because it's altering your body from the way God originally created it. The bible does not directly say that you can't have piercings or tattoos, so I think it's more a matter of how people perceive it. Another reason your parents are probably against it is because tattoos and piercings have a bad rep in society. It's seen as a rebellious thing to do. A lot of people associate it with criminals and "punks." This is of course just a stereotype and not usually true, but adults didn't grow up with it as much as our generation has so they don't really understand it. I don't see the harm in it. Tattoos & piercings aren't that drastic and can be removed. I think other modifications (like implants and plastic surgery) are worse. I see tattoos & piercings more as art that you can carry around on your body all of the time.

I was lucky enough to work for a company that judged me on my performance and not my body art. I do accounting/consulting and I have tattoos (1 on my neck even). My supervisors were never concerned with the fact that I had tattoos and an industrial. I know I was very lucky, but even if I wasn't, I could still cover all of my tattoos, whether it be with clothing or stage makeup.

Well, it depends on where all your tattoos are.
If they're something that could be covered easily with a watch/bracelet or a long sleeved shirt, you could work in an office environment.
But if they're all over, (neck, collarbone, hands) your best bet would be something in a more relaxed/open environment like something to do with fashion/hair/make up that sort of thing.
Both of these types should get you a pretty good income.

Anywhere you want as long as they can be covered. And saying that bothers me because I don't think it should be that way, but that is the reality.
For those who think tattooed people are criminals and are going no where in life.....
My husband has worked for the same company for 16 years in high tech. We have also started our own business - exotic car rentals. I am a co owner. I have walked into banks with a top on that easily displays my back tattoo and do you know what???? I have had nothing but bankers asking me where I got it and then telling me about their tattoos.
More professionals have them under those clothes then you would ever expect.

look, when you see a guy in a 3 pc suit how the heck do you know if he is covered in tattoos or not?
This is a ridiculous question. unless you have hand or face tats and huge industrials anything else pretty much can fly, you could have full sleeves, back tats, legs etc..nipples pierced,....
and yeah i know sometimes it sucks to wear long sleeves even in the summer but you would at least be the most dressed up employee...

depends where they are and if they're visible - there are plenty of tattooed and pierced doctors, lawyers etc - they're just under the clothes. if you want facial piercings, lower sleeve tattoos etc, you're going to be limited pretty much by who you're looking to work for - if they're open minded and you look professional, it shouldn't be a problem. but people will judge you on your mods, so be aware of that before you get them

you could probably get a job working at a retail store or maybe even a cell phone company.but i guess it depends on where all your tattoos and piercings are.
