I've stayed there twice.

It's clean enough, but the building's age does not make it seem as sparkling new as other hotels. Last time, I had a room next to the elevators; that was not condusive toward a good night's rest. The staff is very good, though. No complaints about the beds.

Edison - covenient but not terribly clean.
Better option - Portland Square Hotel. Both have smaller rooms and are in Times Square area but PSH is cleaner and just as convenient!

I never stayed there, but I did go upstairs to pick up a friend. It was clean and the staff was pleasant. Read Tripadvisor and see what previous guests have to say and see if they would stay there again. Also, look at the candid photos. I remember they had an excellent coffee shop.
