"and they did not love their lives to the death." Revelation 12:!1
Defend yourself and do what you can, but if they are going to kill you for your beliefs so be it. You'll soon be in heaven with the everlasting arms

Sometimes we act not by faith but by instinct. Whether you are a Christian or in any other religion in most cases when your life is being threatened the most common instinct of man is to protect himself even if that means extinguishing the life of another. Remember all your emotions such as fear, anger, confusion and pain will be there at that exact moment so you would never really know what you will do to survive.

it is self defense, not pre meditated or planned, even the american legal courts recognise this. the comandment thou shall not kill applies to willful intent. the last part of your question i would assume you are referring to war, again if in self defense the soldier is not guilty of an act of violence, provided the war or situation is justified. as for iraq, whilst the war was not justified a large majority of soldiers entered into the army not knowing the severity etc and so the justification may vary,in the end only god knows, this is my humble opinion. god bless.

It is my understanding that the meaning of the word interpreted as "kill" in the commandments actually means to murder. Murder is taking a life without just cause. The only instance I can think of that would allow a Christian to take a life is to prevent that person from killing them or someone else...i.e. self defense or defense of another. This would of course omit abortion or capital punishment. Abortion because the one killed would be innocent of any crime or sin...and capital punishment simply because with our present judicial system the possibility of error is to great.

The Buddists believe that it is wrong to so much as kill an insect, yet they invented Karate and other martial arts. It is under no circumstances wrong to defend one's life--or the life of an innocent, even if if such defense requires the killing of another.
Migt I ask, is it sinful for a soldier to kill in combat?

There are a number of schools of thought on that ranging from total pacifism to war hawks. Since no one school of thought has any more evidence than any other, and all schools can cite Biblical precedence for their positions, there is no definitive answer.

First of all, the JW's are a cult, and what they believe is not consistant with the real Word of God, whatsoever.
A Christian is not supposed to be a pushover, just because they are believers in Christ. God does not expect you to be a victim. You are permitted to fight back, if your life is at stake.

Yes. I believe that if a person kills another in self-defense he is justified and God will forgive this sin.
