You all say that evoulationn is the only way we here. It doesn't matter which perticular way you beleive you take on Faith in our falliable sciece that its true. Of so the same question I posed to my Chem teacher 10 years ago and got a stupified look for ( she had no answer) is this. If we have life today where did it come from? I mean this before the first 1 celled object there was no life so how did just the right elements "accedently" come together and make a life? It sounds a bit reducilous to me when we see an intelligent design it every cell. Intellegant design must have a creator. You can't have an an accedent and see intellegence it just doesn't work

I was hoping for some intellegent answers but instead I have one or tow of those and a bunch of hateful responses. Now do you see how it is when we get the really stupid questions about God Almighty being an alien or somethig else along those lines?

i like how they get soo offended by this that they have to drop themselves to the level of making fun of your punctuation and grammar. its very "intelligent" of them. well anyways... i believe 100% what you wrote. and honestly hun, don't worry. like Jesus said. dont worry about anything. they will find out on that very day the Lord stated as the day of judgement. they will see and then they will think back and kick their ***. thinking, "wow i shoulda listened to all those people who said Jesus is the only way." and then kick and scream when the Lord throws them into the ring of fire with satan and all his retarded demons. so, God Bless you my dear. Dont ever be afraid to show your belief.
2 Timothy 2:12
"...if we disown him,
he will also disown us"

and to all those rating me down or saying what your gonna say... go right ahead. you all seem to think you can bother us christians. but like she said ^ strong christians, with the Lord holding us in the palm of his hands, can't && won't make us walk away. Or give up. The Lord won't give up on us or let us down. So why should we do that to him?

&& for you to not have anything else to say other then "your spelling is wrong and your retarded"
what does that make you? not perfect obviously.
so get over yourself.
&& hey DON'T forget.....

JESUS LOVES YOU!!!!!!
with all of God's love,

Evolution isn't the only way, but it is the only way that can be tested. Faith and Magic both work. I can declare that the Universe was created on November 13th, 1942, completed by 4:20 am and anyone having memories before then had those memories put there by God. Prove me wrong.
God could have done the things laid out in the Bible - probably it is a myth put together by unsophisicated people, borrowed from other people, and written down from oral tradition, but it can't be tested.
God could have infused a few million cells with life and then let them go. But it can't be tested.
God could have created a universe and put chemicals in it so that under the right conditions as the result of billions and billions of actions the result of chemical reactions produces self replicating entities. That is what the evidence seems to say if you can't accept the big bang. All the testing we have done says it happened that way. If it happened some other way, then when God made things, God lied in the evidence left behind.

Why did you ask your chemistry teacher and not your biology teacher?

I pose another question - we see modern humans to be most intelligent and anything before us as less or no intelligence at all. What sense does it make to presuppose an intelligence?

Secondly, evolution does not deal with how life started, only how life perpetuates. Even in science though, the origin of life is fuzzy. Some could postulate that given the huge amount of time before life arose (4 billlion years) and the right conditions, certain components of life could form. Since this is only a postulation, there still needs to be further research on it. However, all we can then say is "we dont know" because we have few evidence to suggest more. This doesnt mean we just accept any logical alternative. Science is about evidence.

But my question is, why ask this question if no answer you recieve will shake your faith? Why do somethign when you know what you will do already?

Two things:

1) Creationists often mistake a lack of an answer for proof of god. Imagine if any other field worked this way.

Prosecutor: We can't prove the suspect was there, but really who else could do it beside the suspect?
Jury: Guilty!

See? It's dumb. And that is what you are supporting.

2) Spelling is good. OK. That wasn't really number 2 but I had to throw it in there, and I can't imagine that you were in a very advance chemistry class spelling things like ridiculous or science or even intelligence incorrectly.

3) There actually are plausible explanations. Some involve theories around thermal vents. Have we proved them beyond a doubt? No, we haven't. But we have identified the correct areas of inquiry and exploring these will undoubtedly produce positive results. Similar to say the Wright Brothers building an airplane in an era when everybody knew you couldn't fly.

When someone says something like "I'm a strong Christian so you can't shake me" it tells me that they are lacking, and that they are going to faultier.

If you take a bunch of veggies, some meat and throw it into a pot and leave it for a few hours will it not become a stew in the right tempature? But place the same items in cold water, what will they do? Nothing, become mush.

So with the trilllions of degrees and temp, and every partical in the universe to work with don't you think that something could have happened?

I have found that more religious people are very narrow minded, very closed, very unaccepting (didn't JC have something to say about accepting others?)

The Earth is not 6000 years old, and if your think it is then you should be able to see plants turn into fossil fuels.

Good luck with that unbreakable faith

Lets start with definitions: Atheist: someone who does not believe in a God or Gods or a higher power. Religion: the belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power, especially a personal God or gods. Alien: relating to beings from other worlds. As God is not from Earth, he is technically alien.

That dealt with I shall continue.

I do not believe that your Chem teacher gave you a stupefied look 10 years ago. She was just lost for words at your incredible stupidity.

Life came about spontaneously around 4.4 billion years ago. Before you start with "How can something come from nothing" think about where God came from. He wasn't always there, or the Earth would be more than 6,000 years old (as the bible leads you to believe). God had to come from somewhere.

There is no standard model on exactly how life did form, but those which have been presented and accepted by science, are a lot more believable than a God.

First of all, atheism just means lack of belief in any gods. That's all it means.

The theory you seem to be having a problem with isn't evolution (you would have known this IF you bothered to pay attention in school), it's abiogensis. We are not sure which of several hypothesized mechanisms accidentally created the first self-replicating molecule, most likely ribonucleic acid (RNA). It could have arisen from deep-ocean hydrothermal vents, from pools of organic soup, from alkaline seepages along the ocean floor, or from several other processes. However it happened, once this molecule was formed, it copied itself repeatedly. But not all copies were perfect, either through copying errors, or through environmental attacks on the molecules. The mini-environment in which the molecule first arose was soon filled with a number of slightly different versions of the original.

Life is not intelligently designed, there are a great many flaws in life. The human body if it were designed intelligently would have looked a lot different.

ok.
it sounds ridiculous?
so do you therefore believe the theories about god creating fossils to fool us into thinking there were life forms before us? that books, writings, art forms etc that have been dated much further back than 2000 years are all just fakes and part of some giant conspiracy??
to some people, the idea of a bearded man living in the sky deciding who gets to live with angels and who gets to burn in hell, and who can both turn the other cheek and take an eye for an eye, of whom there is no proof of existence apart from a book written by far too many authors prone to chinese whispers and misinterpretations, is actually very difficult to believe and they find that concept ridiculous themselves.
have you read the parts of the bible that refer to flying crafts in the sky? what are your opinions on the theories that suggest aliens had a hand in evolution and that we are not subjects of your god, but of a more intelligent species?
i do not subscribe to any theories, but i do know the truths, the ancient ways and as i do not follow blindly any particular path, my eyes and ears and mind are wide open, and therefore i can be more tolerant and able to have an open debate, rather than ask questions but state at beginning that you are not going to listen to any of the answers!!
therefore your question is quite pointless, but i have the manners to reply even though our opinions differ

A cell is essentially a carbon compound (with hydrogen, oxygen, etc.)

Imagine the number of carbon, oxygen, hydrogen molecules present in the entire universe. Not just the universe we see (extimated at just 11%) of the entire universe. And the number of years that it took for the cell to start.

It doesn't sound much of an accident. The 'intelligent' power could just be an electric current or sun light that forged these cells together. To be honest that is just one of my thoughts, with no whatsoever scientific backing.

The fact is science hasn't concluded yet on that part. With enough time and research science will answer your question. Just like science answered the earth is not flat and that the sun doesn't go around the earth. Just wait.

To be taken seriously, I seriously suggest you check "check spelling" before you submit your question, I'm not trying to be a ** but it was seriously hard to get through your question. I'm Agnostic, so maybe I don't count, but I do seem to have a two cents about everything; to me, Evolution (to some degree) just makes sense. I have wondered about the very question you posed though, what caused everything. This is the question that Athiests and Thiests love to ask each other alike. What created that first cell? What created God (the answer that God always was makes absolutely no sense).

Sounds like the primary mover argument. Something had to have started it all. Even laws of physics state that things tend to stay at rest unless alter by something else. So what was the something else???

Going by that, the primary mover must have always existed (transcending time). If not, then what started that, and so on... Now ppl may call it Jesus, Allah, Yahveh, etc etc (different argument) but there is a starter, a God.
