I've been suffering from acne for about 8 years. It was more severe a while back but now it's pretty calm. I found that my skin ws very sensitive. I've tried proactive( it didn't help at all), I tried Acnefree (all it did was burn my skin and didn't help with longterm elimination of acne). I've also tried some clearasil and neutrogena products most of which didn't do too much. I found that the more I put chemicals on my face the more irritated it got. I had even went to the dermatologist a couple of years ago and the stuff they gave me didn't work either. Lately I have been doing a lighter approach, I got my face under control using oxy chill factor cleanser (10 percent benzoyl perioxide, it's relatively inexpensive, it's one step, and thin and it refreshes and exfoliates) almost everyday, once a day for like 2 weeks. Now I'm just using a regular complexion bar soap and the chill factor every other day with a light shine control, and my breakouts are almost at none. I'm not trying to kill me skin I'm just trying to manage it. And I don't do any kind of special diet. I got tried of spending money on things that didn't work.

Dry and/or greasy skin due to poor oil composition of the skin. Thick greasy oils clog pores, lack of oil leads to dryness and irritation. You need thin oils to moisturize while dissolving and clearing gunk in your poors. Try fish oil or seafood. 2 tsp fish oil a day or 4 servings of seafood a week. Stick it out for at least 2 months; it will take a long time to replace all your oil. Any effect after 1-2 days is temporary or random; so even if it makes you break out a little at first, you haven't given it a full try yet.
In the short term you can wash and moisturize well, but that will only go so far. Plus excessive washing can be drying and excessive moisturizing can be clogging. Use a small amount of a light moisturizer, made with oil not jelly or grease. Often that means soybean oil or mineral oil. Mineral oil means mined from the ground. So soybean oil is usually better, though mineral oil won't cause too much harm. Clean with soap and water, not a harsh acne cleanser. Even then they only work so well. So you really need the seafood.
Antibiotics aren't really good for bacteria long term, they'll come back in force after. Short term they may help. After you get off them find some kefir with acidophilus listed first or 2nd to replace the friendly bacteria they destroyed. Studies show less illness when you have these bacteria, even outside the stomach in places such as the lungs and elsewhere. You want friendly bacteria to fill the void when the antibiotics stop, not harmful ones.
In the short term you might also try 100,000+ iu retinol vitamin A (a megadose, and too much for normal use) or one of the acne drugs that is similar to retinol vitamin A. It's some minor harm to your organs, but it helps against bacteria on your skin. At least it doesn't have the other long term drawbacks to your skin that antibiotics and many scrubs do.
If you would like to learn how to treat your acne permanently and regain your health and wellbeing, without drugs, without typical acne treatments, and without any side effects, then this will be the most important letter you will ever read.

If you can't afford a dermatolotist, your still going to spend a lot of money buying over the counter products. It's going to be trial and error for you. Not all acne is the same, and since your skin is sensitive your in a bit of a pickle. I would suggest you save your money until you can see the dermatologist. If not, there are few over the counter acne kits available that will save you money. You won't have to buy a cleanser, treatment, and mosturizer a la carte.

What bout like Clinques line of products.... They have a 3 step line of a soap (pretty much a wash), lotion (which is actually like a toner and it cleans your face really good anytime of day, you can see the dirt coming off), and a mosturizing lotion. There is also a 7-day scrub cream that you get free in a bag when you purchase $45 or more that I think works awesome. It's made for oily skin and it doesnt dry out your skin.
This has been working for me and I have had oily/acne prone skin for probably 7 years (I'm 20). I had the proactive type stuff too and it just made it worse. Did you try asking your regular doctor about acne meds??? My doctor prescribed them and if you have insurance it cost like $15 bucks for a month supply and it works good if you keep using it, if thats an option, its called like Benzyclin (i changed drs. thats why i stopped getting it).

OK so im really excited to answer your question because Ive been suffering with acne since I was 9 and Im 22 yrs old now, AND I FINALLY FOUND SOMEHTING THAT FREAKIN WORKS, and this i figured out on my own. 3 times a day I wash my face with Dial soup, the orange bar (sounds weird right... but its antibacterial). In the morning and night after I wash my face with dial, with problem areas I use a little bit a diluted alchohol, followed by a low benzyol peroxide cream (.5) then I use Neutrogena Oil free lotion, so I dont dry out my face. And now Im taking a medication that you can find at rite-aid called "Nature's Cure", its toally harmless, which you take twice a day, day and night. And I also take a multi vitamin every morning as well. Its really been quite a choir, and Im sure you probably dont have as stubborn acne as mine, but there you go.

Get your vitamins going! Vit E is great for you in and out. Take a tablet everyday and over a couple of days, u will notice some difference. Burst a tablet and sometimes put some on ur face and then wipe it off after a while. Its much smoother for your face and great!
i actually found using a bar of soap like dove or olay is useful. Instead of the other products that tend to just burn layers of your skin.
as for acne treatments. don't try benzoyl peroxide just yet... its actualyl pretty strong, and i found it made my skin red and irritated. salicylic acid is milder and good to start with.
good luck and cheers :)

Well I don't know that much about acne but I'm looking for a product that will help with my skin problem. I've been hearing alot about this product called Tea Tree Oil. I've read that it helps with acne. Google it. They also make products for face wash with this stuff in it.

The best natural way (followed by me also) is to wash the face with cool water atleast 4 times a day and wipe dry with cotton towel. Avoid scrubbing the skin and gently wipe dry. Repeat as much as required in summer for better results.

DermaJel. Seriously.. go to the drug mart and get some. It is totally chemical-less, and perfect for your skin type. It's really good and washes your face really well, AND moisturizes your skin lightly at the same time. And you don't have to use water if you don't want to. Just it, and a wet or dry cloth.

I have severe acne and scar easily too. So I feel your pain. I found this website, and they have essential oil blends that they tell you how and what to mix it with to help heal your acne. That one is oily on your face, but it really works! And the other one is in the free recipe section to help get rid of acne scars. That one really works, but you don't see the results over night... you have to be patient. It worked on me, and my face was pretty bad. On that same page, they also have acne mask.
