so i was watching jesus camp the other night. and i'm watching the seen after the fat lady made all the kids cry for being one way when they're at church and being normal when they leave. then this one kid gets up on stage and starts talking about his experience with christianity and how sometimes he feels like a fake because, and i'm paraphrasing here, he doesn't really know if god exists because he can't really see him. and that seen made me wonder. how much do you think it takes of scaring people with hellfire and eternal damnation before they're actually convinced they've "seen" god? think about it. this is a kid, no older than maybe seven years old, and a lot closer to god, if one does exist, than any of us. he's still living with his parents and therefore very much under their control, yet he's man enough to admit that he doesn't know if god exists. so why do so many here pretend like they "know" he exists? you know you're not fooling anyone, don't you?

uncle remus, faith and knowing are two different things. if you can't even grasp this simple concept then there really is no point using logic to argue against you. in stead i'll use illogical comments like, "god exists because bananas are red" then you say, "but bananas aren't red." to which i reply "ah, so bananas aren't red, then god doesn't exist."

lifeinheavenforeever, thank you for that wonderful breakdown of science. it's so nice to have someone who's actually informed speak for your side of the argument for once. i now see the error in my ways. all these years i though science was based on educated guesses rather than random hypotheses pulled out of thin air. never mind the fact that the universe is expending in all directions. that doesn't prove anything. never mind all the physicists and other scientists who dedicated their lives to science, some under persecution of the churches due to their random hypotheses contradicting what the bible says, only so that we can live in the comfort we live in today. they know very little compared to what you don't know. thanks for clarifying things.

Honestly that "Jesus Camp" scares the sh!t out of me. It's fundamentalism on a near terroristic scale with absolutely little, if any, real justification for teaching kids to be "soldiers" for god. Sound familiar? Al Qaeda and Iranian terrorist cells teach children in a frighteningly similar manner.

Unfortunatly there are a lot of fake people out there including christians and athiests and every other religion. I try to stay away from christian TV because I think they sometimes put on a show. but good for those who cannot make it to church. Real christians however are not fake. there is really a God and He does love us. Why is He going to make a bunch of something He hates? I know He exists... I could tell you a whole list of testimoneys but its not going to make you believe. that is up to you to seek His face.

Ultimatly:
If you want to know if God exists, sincerely ask Him yourself whole heartedly.

Don't ask a bunch of opinionated cultural christians and athiests. because that will only send you in circles

which is greater, what you know or what you don't know.
you don't know if I feel Gods spirit in my life.
your knowledge is nothing compared to what we don't know.
unless you can see what happens after a person dies or actually go into a space ship like star trek and explore, you are just guessing.
all these theories about the big bang and such are just the result of pride.
we are nothing but grains of sand on this planet.
if scientific theories are so right explain why NASA had to send chimps in space before sending man?
why, because all his theories are just guesses.
God Bless

Congtratulations! on thinking for yourself and questioning things that too many people have been bullied into fearing.
They only 'know' because they are afraid not to believe and they are just fooling themselves. Little kids are so easily led and manipulated, impressionable, and have undeveloped capacity for abstract thinking. This little guy sounds very precocious and maybe there's hope for him!

God is like the most unknowable mystery in the universe. And you say we are "fooling ourselves" for believing in him. Listen for me I know he exists. I know this by faith, which is outside the realm of scientific proof or evidence.

Because when I was 7 I wondered too. Then I read the Bible and saw that it all makes sense. Jesus is real.
