You will lose your license for a year. If you harmed another person you will be civilly liable. Fines for this are higher than for any other traffic offense. You need to let your lawyer and the judge know how sorry you are and that you will never again drive while you are drinking. You probably will not do any jail time unless you left the scene of an accident or committed other things we don't know about. A second offense is mandatory jail time.
Stay off the road when you are drunk. The life you save might be mine.

I seen two friends with the same problem in O.C.
Anyways they both went with the paid lawyer and got screwed, meaning basically they got what everyone gets in dui's. and my other friend had two dui's and the public defender really helped out. the PD's work with the judge and D.A.'s all the time.
As far as the outcome it usually goes like this:
hopefully you had insurance cause they'll take cover of that.
you'll pay a fine around 2K then go to AA10-20hr.s maybe some highway service(picking up trash on the side)
license will be suspended and i think it takes 3 months to enforce after your court date. and it will be suspended for at least 6months, but you can get a restricted license to and from work and to go to the store. after the suspension you'll have to pay the DMV something around200 dollars i think i cant remember plus now insurance rates will be higher wi the dui the wreck and the bodily harm really hurts too.
worst case scenario is you go to jail for 3-6months. and jail isn't that bad in oc. theo lacy, the farm is where you'll like to go much more nicer.

The Orange County Public Defender's Office has some of the best criminal defense lawyers in the State, and they know their courts inside and out--which cannot be said for anybody else giving advice here (including me). There one person who is going to give you the straight dope on this case: your attorney. (One thing he will tell you is that this is NOT automatically attempted manslaughter.)

You got relatives in any other country. If not, it's 3 yrs probation, license suppended, on your record for 10 yrs, and automatic charge of (we thought), attempted manslaughter. But we're not lawyers. Hope your at least 21. Get prepared to be sued by the county for the accident, and the 911 call. AA meetings are OK,, full of drunk Zluts. Court cost, another couple of \grand., and community service, and manditory AA and DUI traffic program. Don't miss one, have nothing on your breath, or you'll go to jail.

I've had about a half dozen friends get DUIs but none with bodily injury. I'm from Michigan so this could be different for you but their fines added up to be between 1500-2500. That's included AA and drugs classes and a weekend camp they had to go to. None of them spent time in jail expect for the night they were caught.

you could loose your license for at least six months, and as far as fines, bodily injury? how bad, you could serve time for that, because you where under the influence and caused bodily injury, because this is your first offense, ask your attorney to talk to the DA about a process called Differed Prosecution, where its a basic probation period and your not allowed in bars for I think two years nor drinking, pay your fines do your community service in the allowed time, and your charge will disappear, now if you mess up, your suspended sentence will come back to you and you will have to serve your time. worse case senero.

To quote an attorney, "If you want an OJ defense, you have to show the juice."
this means, a experienced atty will cost you at least a thousand dollars.
Unfortunately in life there are some things that if you do them, they will haunt you forever. This is one of them.
I'm sorry I can't give you more encouragement, but sometimes these public defenders are quite sharp. Good luck.

You already got your break. You did not put somebody in a wheel chair for the rest of their life. You want a better defense, buddy you don't deserve any defense at all. All you are concerned about is getting away with your crime. I hope to hell they throw the book at you. If there is any justice you would see the inside of a jail and never be allowed to drive again.

You will definitely get your license suspended. My uncle and my friend were arrested for DUIs (first offense) this past year. Both got their licenses suspended until they served a small amount of time in jail (one week for my uncle and one weekend for my friend). My uncle had to serve 60 hours of community service, and my friend's judgment hasn't been decided.
