A decent Question earlier about the Flood story and Noah's Ark. The obvious holes in the story were being discussed by the logic-minded. The generic "god did it, so don't question it" replies came from the usuals in the fiction arena.

And then, I had to stop and laugh.

One guy, with the usual "it's god's word" rant going on -- not ever realizing or considering that there is NO PROOF that the bible or any other cult book or manual is actually the word of any god at all -- continues with the usual "god can handle anything, why question his word" etc etc. and then, topped it off with:

"I think you're wrapped up in science too much."

I actually laughed out loud.

A sort of "reprimand" to someone for thinking, for examining and investigating, for approaching things logically and reasonably, for being intelligent...

..."I think you're wrapped up in science too much."

Really -- does that make you laugh out loud, or what??

not so much laugh out loud as shake my head in bewilderment.

Violence in any form is not acceptable and the sex of the victim should not matter in an ideal world. However, clearly it does - you are male and are concerned with "women on men" violence. What do you think when the violence is the other way around? Remember that far more women have been victims of male violence (1/3 of the women in the world) and unfortunately they may have scars from this and see this as payback - maybe why they say these things. It is my understanding that "women on men" violence can be worse psychologically because men are so ashamed and rarely come forward to get help.

It's hilarious, but as others have said, its scary too. These are the type of people who will bring down society with holy wars, chasing dreams and ignoring logic and practicality. These narrow-minded fools who think they know it all just because some book(written and edited for years by the imperfect human hand no less!) told them so, they will take over and that'll be the end of it.

Sheep. All sheep.

And they are EVERYWHERE.

It kinda makes me sad! I guess you can technically get wrapped up in anything too much, but I think this person underestimates the value of science and logical thinking.

Personally, I believe the Noah's Ark story was never meant to be taken literally. It is a metaphor.

Yep, made me laugh. Unfortunately, I was raised by parents who chose to disregard science if it conflicted with their theology. Kind of silly though, my Dad used to be a chemist. Reflecting upon what I just wrote, I have to laugh. It's ludicrous.

It makes me understand why the world is the way it is. I keep searching for that line in the bible that says "And God so decreed that all the morons shall be killed".

I get a chuckle from it, yes... then I shake my head in frustration and sadness that his way of thinking is the majority in the US right now. And that's nothing to laugh at.

It does make me laugh but it also scares me. Most organized religion do not want you to think outside of their boxes.

Just as much as the religious texts do. They're a HOOT!

That’s hilarious; but it also makes me want to bang my head into a wall.
