No, but it is not what most people believe it is.

GOD IS NOT GOING TO DESTROY THE EARTH, THE EARTH SOMETIME IN THE NEAR FUTURE WILL BECOME A GARDEN OF EDEN OR PARADISE WHERE PEOPLE CAN LIVE IN PEACE & SECURITY.

ARMAGEDDON IS SIMPLY HIS WAR TO CLEAN THE EARTH OF WICKED PEOPLE & ALL BAD THINGS THAT EXIST, & PEOPLE WHOSE WORSHIP IS UNACCEPTABLE TO HIM.

Why, though, would God wage a global war? Armageddon is closely related to one of his cardinal qualities, justice. The Bible declares: “God is a lover of justice.” (Psalm 37:28) He has seen all the acts of injustice perpetrated during man’s history. This naturally provokes his righteous displeasure. Thus, he has appointed his Son to wage a just war in order to do away with this entire wicked system.

Only God is capable of waging a truly just and truly selective war during which righthearted individuals, wherever they may be on earth, will be preserved. ) And only he has the right to impose his sovereignty over all the earth, for it is his creation. Revelation 4:11.

What about survivors? Indeed, no one needs to perish at Armageddon. The apostle Peter observed: “God, does not desire any to be destroyed but desires all to attain to repentance.” (2 Peter 3:9) And the apostle Paul stated that God’s “will is that all sorts of men should be saved and come to an accurate knowledge of truth.”

Consider the good Har–Magedon promises to achieve, godly humanity’s peaceful future on this planet, no more pollution, no more war, no more poverty, no more disease or even death. God promises: “Look! I am making all things new.” Revelation 21:3,4

Do not know Ninva, it is possible flood was a natural occurrence within the Mediterranean area, no data to prove Noah but many oral traditions have earth diver stories. Yes, it can, I think it is a self fulfilling prophecy, however, not sure of it is in the now or speaks to past hells. But people can and probably will destroy them self. I personally believe in transformation via Great Basin Natdia tradition. Very ancient, perhaps 10,000+ years old, when it comes to spirituality, the Hunters and Gatherers have got it. Peace Also, Sodum, yes, again no evidence but from what the oral tradition says, 9it was quite nasty in a bad way...........

armaggedon is not going to happen. it was the writer's way of explaining the conditions existant in the roman empire at the start of the christian era.
besides, it has already been resolved, and was prevented. what has not been prevented are the physical changes to this planet's structure of landmasses and seas, and which will be lost, and which will be rising and falling after the polar shift occurs around the year 2012. these are the true armeggedon, the end of the world as we know it will be physical changes from weather, earthquakes, floods, and volcanic activity.
western europe will no longer exist as a continent, most af japan will sink under the waves, a large landmass in the mid-atlantic will rise, much of northern africa and the middle east will be lost under water, the north american continent will crack right down the middle, the east coast will be flooded, the west coast as far inland as nebraska will be under water, the rest ot western north america will be a group of isolated small islands.
so who cares about whether some wacko muslim fool wants to blow up the world. we got enough to worry about.

No, it can not be avoided. It is written in the Bible as an event that will take place. Nineveh is the only one that the people repented and caused God to change His mind. But all of those were events that already happened, and recorded in the Bible. Armageddon is a prophecy of something that will happen in the end times.

No, it can't because Jehovah God said that it would happen and it will happen soon, considering the many prophesied events told by Jesus about the End, is already happening. And for those that are ongoing, like diseases, the effects and fatalities have intensified.

No one knows the day or hour, only Jehovah God. Therefore, what we can do now is be on the alert, do His will and do not stray from His teachings.

I don't think it can be avoided. Prolonged, maybe, but avoided altogether? No way. It has already been prophesied, and so I don't think that we can change it. We can definitely do things to prolong it, as stated...if more Christians really took a firm stand on many issues the world is facing, etc.

I'm not a scholar or theologian obviously, but if you are interested in learning more, check out www.jvim.org or www.hallindsey.org.

The Battle of Armageddon - as a physical Battle on this planet - began in the twentieth century and had proliferated by the late 1970's due to a trio of Hollywood-style movies.

The book of Revelation depicts the battle that Satan has with Christ throughout the entire history of mankind, notably during the "Last Days" which were beginning at the time of the apostles. [ie. "Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son ..."]

Pagan dogfights between nations with swords or helicopters, have not one single thing to do with the Bible. They are the fantasies of the Hal Lindsay types who make fortunes capitalising on quasi-religious science fiction in order to sell books and movies.

It is a basic rule of biblical interpretation that no interpretation in scripture can mean anything that would not be understood by its first-century hearers.

If you are worried about this, the whole invention of the popular "Rapture" notion is detailed in Chapter Two at www.theforgottenbible.org. There will certainly be enough information there, to let you start on your own research.

The adherents of the whole Armageddon concept will equally rant about Christ comijng to reign in his kingdom from Jerusalem etc. etc.; whilst the Bible states in terms so plain, that it is questionable whether folk actually have studied the Bible they claim to read:
"Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence." [John 18:36]

Armageddon is the great battle for the souls of men that rages upon this earth. “The kingdom of Satan, it must be remembered, belongs not to the physical, but to the moral sphere. The foundation on which it rests, is sin ...” [Fairbairn, 466-467]

The Book of Revelation concerns itself with:
the finished work of Christ on the cross;
the rule and complete sovereignty of Christ; and
the providence of God in all matters pertaining to mankind

Here is a definition for you - only, this is a scriptural one:

Armageddon as a reference to the Hill of Megiddo where the army of Josiah [2 Kings 23:29-30] was defeated. Josiah did not subdue forcefully enough, his people’s love of the surrounding world, and therefore suffered defeat.

Thus, Armageddon is the second battle, in which the faithful elect of God - led not by Josiah, but by the Lord Jesus - stand resolutely against the degradation of the world [the ungodly and the modern counterfeit religiosity] and will not be defeated.

I was a child in Belfast, Northern Ireland in 1969-70's: you can live through war. The great concern of every man, woman and child should be: "How will it be for me, when I find myself before the Judgment Seat of Christ to answer for my life on this earth?"

Regards,
Philip Livingstone

No. If you believe in the Bible, it's gonna happen, no matter what 'cause God said so.
