Personally I think that Poker Stars or Full Tilt are the best for beginners. See link for a more complete list.

You might also look at the second link where you can play for points and win cash prizes with no investment or use of your own money.

Full Tilt Poker is quite good because they have something called the FTP Academy which is a training site that will get you up to speed on your new poker career. It is also US friendly (I assume that you are in the US). Some sites, like Party Poker, do not allow players from the US. You can use the link below to start playing on FTP.

Full Tilt in my opinion is one of the best. They have pros giving advice away on a regular basis to improve your game. Also you can win prizes without risking any money.

I like pokerstars.net. The registration is easy, costs nothing and has tournaments to play. I have been playing there for over a year now, and enjoy it.

You might want to try Pogo.com. Of course, this is assuming that you only want to try playing for fun, and not for real money.
