I work at LAX. Taxi's are expensive. to Hollywood maybe $30 to $50. You can take shuttles alot cheaper. Supershuttle and Primetime Shuttle. There are also buses and the Metro Rail (subway) system. $3 for an all day pass. Might go up to $4 soon. Taxi from Hollywood to Venice would be about the same $30 to $50.

Honestly it depends upon the traffic. Traffic in Los Angeles can be hellish. I took a cab once to work because it was cold and I did not want to take the bus...it is a 5 minute drive that cost me $20. I could easily see it costing $90 to get to Hollywood from LAX because you are charged $0.20 for every 8 seconds or so. It is easier to take an airport shuttle to a rental car service, rent a cheap car, and pay for valet. Shuttle to rental place = free Fox Rent a Car has the lowest prices in my experience.

LAX to Hollywood is about $50.00 and Hollywood to Venice Beach is about $40.00.
