I was in the Navy from 1999-2005 and honestly it sucked the life out of me. Shipboard life is not easy. You will go on 6+ plus deployments every 1-1.5 years but that's not the worst part. The worst part of shipboard life that really sucked the life out of me were our practice deployments (doing circles in the ocean) where you would be out for two weeks, inport for 1 week, out for 2 weeks, in for 2 weeks, etc. You have no continuity in your life so in a way deployments were easier to handle.
Not counting your inport duty days where you would have to spend the night on the ship and go into work the next day. The size of your ship decides how many days you go between duty days.
If you aren't married you will be living on the ship when you are inport because you aren't going to get any extra money to live off ship. (and believe me, with the salary you won't really be able to afford a place in town unless you have a few roommates)
And with the numerous complaints we had in the Navy, they would always tell us, "At least you aren't in the Army". So I can only imagine the daily life in the Army.
If you have any questions feel free to send me a message. Some of the things I wrote are things that recruiters won't tell you anything about

My husband is in the Navy and my best friend is in the Army. Some observations I've made about the two in the last 10 years:
-Navy has stricter requirements for entry
- Navy has better and faster advancement than the Army. My best friend has been in longer than my husband, but yet my husband is two ranks above my best friend.
-Navy has better job training, especially in areas that can be used in the civilian world when service is done
-The Navy will have better pay sometimes, when it comes to sea and hazard pay for deployments (which are also tax free).
-And hey, everywhere you'll be stationed in the Navy will be near the water, life's a beach.

Look at it this way.
In the Army the fighting is up close and personal. In the Navy, guns will fire 20 miles, and Sailors rarely wade up to their ears in mud.
Army combat rations are MRE's , aka Meals REady to Excrete. Eaten more or less cold, and hurriedly. In the Navy, you get fed three meals a da and sleep in a bed with a mattress, not on the ground or a canvas cot.
If you want to be a Warrior, join the Marines. If you want to fight, join the Army. If you want to learn a trade, join the Nav. If you want a career, join the Air Force.

I was in the Navy for 21 yrs loved it!! Promotions are faster and when you are on a ship, you get sea pay that can add up after a few years. Don't believe the hollywood crap you see about the Navy. It is way different/better than what they make it look like.

Go for it .If you like being in close quarter's with 2000 to 4000 other sailors.. If you don't mind being on a ship for 6 to 8 month's at a time. I spent 3 1/2 yrs. on an aircraft carrier. My biggest adjustment was having no privacy, no time alone. The pluses are , Three hot's and a cot. you don't eat sand and no body's shooting at you. Here's the Bad thing. The last time I talked to a "career advisor" the navy had so many people wanting in they were turning them down.

Navy or the Coast Guard is always better than the Army. You always get good hot meals three times a day and they take your rack everywhere the ship and you go. The Army just gets shot at and shat upon.

I was in the Navy for six years (92 - 98). It wasn't bad. You get training, you get to see cool places...be prepared to work real hard, and go without sleep on occasion.
You have to go with your heart. Military commitment is a serious thing.

Black is going with the whole lot. AND flipflops are honestly entering a brand new variety- dressed in them with formal clothes and with paintings garments. Its a brand new variety thats particularly making successful. SO CUTE!! and black is sublime- it particularly is going with the whole lot and provides just a little little bit of adulthood to the shoe. Id def pass with black.
