since November I have been considering joining the Air force, and I want to make a decision by my 21st birthday which is 3 months from now! I was in college, but it just wasn't working. I don't know if its because I didn't like school, or just became disenchanted with it. The same thing happened around about this time in high school, so I finished poorly. I want to join the Air Force because I feel this need to serve my country, I also want the pride and camaraderie that comes with it. My parents aren't to keen on this idea but, they finally decided they will support whatever decision I make. Sooo here are my choices, transfer from my University to a junior college so I can do my prereq's for an out of state college( i go to school in my hometown) I think being away might re-energize me. Join the Air Force in October... or find a career I like such as financial planning( was offered a job already) and do it while I'm continuing school. I'm not content just doing school anymore...

The first step in being a man is being your own man. WE can advise, your parents can advise you,but you have to decide. And you have to live with your decision.
School. No big deal, some are cut out for college, some aren't. Maybe just some time off is needed. A career, financial planning-- For everyone who becomes successful, many fall by the wayside. it's endless prospecting and 10 calls that don't work for everyone that does. Can you handle rejection.
Air Force, wonderful opportunities, but a 4 year commitment. (I may be wrong) and if you don't like it, you just can't quit. if your discharge is anything buy honorable, it'll haunt you forever. But it's 4 years in a different world. and achievement is rewarded.
Wanting to do it to serve your country is noble of you, but you also want to get as much from it as you can. Nothing wrong with that. And it can prepare you for a career you never dreamed of.
Confuse??? That's ok. You have a few months to sort it out, and I hope you make the best decision for yourself. Good luck, and post in a few months ad let us knowwhat you decide.

If you're not "content just doing school anymore", and you "feel this need to serve my country", then join the military. You are never going to be completely happy with any decision you make. If you join, then you will think about that job you could have had (which will be there when you get out). If you don't join, you will think about the lost, "I will never know" syndrome.

There is no cut and dry answer. You have to look into yourself and see what you most want to do.

Myself, I joined, got my degree, and retired. It worked for me. Others moved on. Their choice, as it is yours.

Good luck

Ive considered the pitcher interior the 6 or 7 spot final year the place they have been splitting the batting lineup right into a 2-headed monster. ideally you desire to additionally attempt to get a affected person guy earlier your pitcher, perhaps a guy gets some walks esspecially whilst communities desire to pass after the pitcher, so if the pitcher strikes out and you have a guy on base with a stable touch hitter springing up, it is worth a roll of the cube.

Maybe you can get the military to pay for your out of state tuition. That way you can study and get a degree, serve in the military as an officer, and decide if you like it.

Sounds like you have a number of good options, but that certainly would be a good way to end up.

You appear to become easily bored with educational tasks. The Armed Services likely will not satisfy you either. You need to talk to a professional counselor and get to the root of your tendency towards "disenchantment". Until you do, your history will repeat itself.

By the way, I am a retired Christian Counselor.

If they have a ROTC unit at your school join it, than join the AF, although I would recommend the Navy, there are several good officer programs.

Stay in school, kid. You can always join the military later but that degree might slip away forever (since it's hard to get back into the swing of things once you leave school)

Do whatever is necessary to continue your eduction. If you ever want to be able to support a family, an education is necessary. They days of making good without an education are over. If you join the military now you will not be "serving my country" you will be killing people in Iraq in an immoral and illegal war. You also run the risk of being killed or maimed yourself. Imagine how your parents would feel for a uniform to come to their door and tell them you are dead. They will be heart broken and you will have sacrificed your life in vain.
