Nope.

This is science and what counts is the data.

"I wasn’t convinced by a person or any interest group—it was the data that got me. I was utterly convinced of this connection between the burning of fossil fuels and climate change. And I was convinced that if we didn’t do something about this, we would be in deep trouble.”

Vice Admiral Richard H. Truly, USN (Ret.)
Former NASA Administrator, Shuttle Astronaut and the first Commander of the Naval Space Command

Here are two summaries of the mountain of peer reviewed data that convinced Admiral Truly, short and long.

It's (mostly) not the sun:

http://solar-center.stanford.edu/sun-on-earth/FAQ2.html

And the first graph aboves shows that the sun is responsible for about 10% of it. When someone says it's the sun they're saying that thousands of climatologists are stupid and don't look at the solar data. That's ridiculous.

Science is quite good about exposing bad science or hoaxes:

http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~dst/ATG/polywater.html

There's a large number of people who agree that it is real and mostly caused by us, who are not liberals, environmentalists, stupid, or conceivably part of a "conspiracy". Just three examples of many:

"Global warming is real, now, and it must be addressed."

Lee Scott, CEO, Wal-Mart

"Our nation has both an obligation and self-interest in facing head-on the serious environmental, economic and national security threat posed by global warming."

Senator John McCain, Republican, Arizona

“DuPont believes that action is warranted, not further debate."

Charles O. Holliday, Jr., CEO, DuPont

There's a lot less controversy about this is the real world than there is on Yahoo answers:

http://www.worldpublicopinion.org/pipa/articles/home_page/329.php?nid=&id=&pnt=329&lb=hmpg1

And vastly less controversy in the scientific community than you might guess from the few skeptics talked about here:

http://www.sciencemag.org/cgi/content/full/306/5702/1686 and:

"There's a better scientific consensus on this [climate change] than on any issue I know - except maybe Newton's second law of dynamics. Global warming is almost a no-brainer at this point,You really can't find intelligent, quantitative arguments to make it go away."

Dr. Jerry Mahlman, NOAA

Its not a scam or a lie it was happen eventully in america now they are prone to hurracane tremendously, the politics and science and the people across the world should meet to address the problem, the united nation as representatives of the world body should come to evaluate some specific serious program in global warming, it alarming before its too late, lets plant trees, minimizing flourocarbons, observe proper waste disposal and positive thinking towards environments,

It is not a scam or a lie!!!!As a species on this planet we have abused it by polluting the air, cutting down trees, killing innocent animals and other stuff too. We dont deserve this beautiful planet as we do not know how to look after it. We are nothing but trouble and therefore we deserve to be wiped out! - we are going to end up like the dinosaurs!

Yes and no...

Yes there's a lot of scam involved.

No its not a total lie.

There is some average increase in temperature over the entire earth.

CO2 is an amplifying factor... but we really aren't sure how much of the warming REALLY is caused by CO2. Part of the global warming is due to increased solar output... part of it is due to other amplifying factors such as increased heat retention due to water evaporation (which causes increased clouds which means water vapor both holds in heat and reflects more light....)

The scam part is that global warmin is being hyped and distracting from EASILY SOLVABLE issues. We don't have an easy solution to global warming, and we aren't even sure its going to be a problem. It could actually end up being BENEFICIAL!

The really sad part is... hyping global warming is causing people to do things that in the end AMPLIFY GLOBAL WARMING.... in the name of "environmentalism"....

We have more important MORE IMMEDIATE issues to deal with... which as byproduct... would reduce CO2 emissions among other things...

Not a scam so much as attempts by biased observers with an axe to grind. The Earth's climate is usually colder than what it currently is and variable to extremes, anything we can do is most probably short term and localised. A handful of very active volcanoes can do much more damage than we can. Ask any qualified geologist.

Partly. There's lots of evidence and counter-evidence for both sides. It's hard to say, but I don't think that humans have as big of an impact as claimed.

Justine,

>millions of greenhouse gases

Millions of what of greenhouse gases? Millions of liters? Ounces? Moles? Formula units? Molecules? Gallons? "Microtubules?"

Show me the research. Or better yet, take a look at the research. Look at the evidence.

GW is a myth. It's a political posturing move and seems to be working with all the sheeple here that believe it's true. Follow the money!!

Normal cyclical climate changes are occurring as they have for thousand of years.

No, of course it's not a scam and a lie.

HUMANS MESSED UP.

Just face it. No one's scamming you, no one's messing with your head.

When you dump millions of gallons of smog and carbon dioxide into the atmostphere WILLINGLY KNOWING that it's wrong, it's gonna come back to get you. And that's what we call global warming.

Humans, shape up.

All from Nasa, so read the reports and make up your own mind what to believe.
Nobody can argue with the weather reports over the past few decades. They can only argue about what they mean.

I am ld now. I remember what winters were like though.
If i showed you my winter clothing from 20 years ago you would not believe it. I have not needed my winter parka for three years at least.

There are not many things I agree with byderule on but on this one I think he is right.
Now what is a possible strategy for dealing with it.
