i think its because if one person truly believes what they are believing is true then when they hear another version they cant except that persons truth. i think if everyone could come to terms with we all have our own truths it would indeed be a better world

The premise that each of us can have our own "truth" as "equal to and separate from" each other is a logical contradiction.

It creates a social and legal definition of truth that claims all religious views are equally valid or true. What’s true for you is not necessarily true for someone else. Your truth is your truth and their truth is their truth and they are equally true, even when they apparently negate one another.

This violates a basic law of logic, the law of non-contradictions which states that two premises which negate one another cannot both be true at the same time in the same sense.

In the words of Aristotle, "one cannot say of something that it is and that it is not in the same respect and at the same time".

Therefore, you cannot have one "truth" and another "truth" both being true. If one person says, "There is a God," and another person says, "There is no god," they CANNOT BOTH BE TRUE because they contradict and negate each other.

Now... we can say, "You wish to believe there is no god, and that's fine, BUT I believe there IS a God. Now, we can't BOTH be correct. I believe that I am correct and you are wrong... BUT I will allow you to be wrong because you choose that view."

The other person can respond, "Okay, fine. You believe there is a god, I do not. We can agree to disagree."

That sounds like where the discussion can amicably end. However, what you are really objecting to is that the Christian will then say, "But I care about you and what happens to you, and that I believe there are very bad consequences for what you believe. I don't want to see you suffer those consequences."

This is what you, and other non-believers, don't want to hear, but we as Christians feel so moved and obliged to share this. You would rather us just leave it at "we agree to disagree," but because we care so much, it hurts us inside to know that you will ... and remember, for the Christian, this is an absolute... you WILL suffer very nasty "bad things" if we just leave it at that.

Okay then... we will leave it at that...but ... don't say we didn't tell you when you eventually learn "THE TRUTH" that we were correct all along. And now we are back to the original premise... you can't have your truth, and we have our truth which are opposite and negate each other and still be both valid.

That is why... to your question, we will always have this "debate," and "problems" will inevitably occur.

People have a problem accepting that they could be wrong in their beliefs and therefore hate on everyone else. Many people use their religion to fuel hatred and acts of discrimination. By hiding behind their book or teacher, they try to shift blame for being a bad person. It's sad.

Jesus is the dividing line-"I am the way the truth and the life, no one cometh unto heaven but by me." John 14:6

God is no respector of persons or personal beliefs-he came to die to set us free-now the choice is up to you and me

just had to answer this one before bed-think about it what have you got to lose=everything

when people arnt happy or feel sufficient they may try religion for that-religion is man made, Jesus is God made into man-search the heart

well Romans 1 says it comes from being unthankful and worshiping the created instead of the creator in rejecting Jesus salvation.

All I can say is pray to know the truth, Jesus still loves each one of us heart and soul and delivers all who will give him control. John 3 praying for you, David
