Question about Scanning documents?

I need to scan some papers and I want to save them so I can transfer them to another computer and email them on that other computer.What format do I save it as?

Depends on your scanner and its powering software.

I can scan as an image (jpg extension) and send as an attachment;

scan as OCR (optical character recognition) which will transfer the scanned work to a Word document which can be edited or e-mailed as an attachment, or copy the text and paste it in the message box.
