No, Jesus made water into wine. It does say in the Bible not to get drunk, it also says that a little wine is good for you.

As I was reading the answers, I had to stop at Godhastheanswer as what she said could not be more true and she got herself a thumb down! I just don't know what sort of person would do such a stupid thing. The very first miracle Jesus performed was when his own mother asked him to help the wedding hosts because they had run out of wine and would all that happened from that moment until the time he made his first miracle such a taboo subject? That some would actually pretend it didn't even take place? How far will they go and how long is it going to be that people will call the One who claims divine inspiration of the only book on earth, a liar? Again, I repeat that if any religion, under the sun, claims that the truth of the Bible is a lie and wants people to believe doctrines that aren't in the Bible, then they are lying in the power of the wicked one, and are worshippers of the god of 2 Corinthians 4: 4, the one described at John 8: 44 and have nothing to do with Jesus or his Father who demands to be worshipped in spirit and in truth and not in worldly doctrines and traditions which only make the Word of God vain... 1 Thessalonians 5: 21
The sin is not in drinking as Jesus wouldn't turned the water into the best wines everyone present ever tasted, but is in the fact that so-called Christians go on following the lead of Babylon The Great and don't get enough accurate knowledge about the God they claim to worship. The sad truth is that they don't know Him as they are satisfied to accept the "status quo", what they are told, what the worldly religious leaders tell them to... who are no more than blind guides leading the blinds just as in the days of Christ Jesus.
But there comes a point where I can help but ask the same question he did before he left the earth. Will there be any faith when I return? He obviously meant faith in the truth of the true God and not in the traditions of former pagans... with the lies that come with all of them such as X-mas being the day he was meant to have been born which is the day pagans always celebrated the sun and moon gods, etc. But does that bother all of the different denominations out there, calling themselves "christians"? Not in the least. So my question remains: "What does it mean to them to worship God in spirit and truth?" Is the Word of God just words??? Meaningless words not to be taken seriously? If so, why bother to call oneself a little Christ, which is what Christian is supposed to mean? and accept all sorts of silly doctrines that have absolutely no basis and facts of the Bible? but from the Empire of False Religions on earth! Revelations 18: 4

Jesus changed water into wine. It even seems that Jesus drank wine on occasion (John 2:1-11; Matthew 26:29). In New Testament times, the water was not very clean. Without modern sanitation efforts, the water was often filled with bacteria, viruses, and all kinds of contaminants. The same is true in many third-world countries today. As a result, people often drank wine (or grape juice) because it was far less likely to be contaminated. In 1 Timothy 5:23, Paul was instructing Timothy to stop drinking the water (which was probably causing his stomach problems) and instead drink wine. In that day, wine was fermented (containing alcohol), but necessarily not to the degree it is today. It is incorrect to say that it was grape juice, but it is also incorrect to say that it was the same thing as the wine commonly used today. Again, Scripture does not necessarily forbid Christians from drinking beer, wine, or any other drink containing alcohol. Alcohol is not, in and of itself, tainted by sin. It is, rather, drunkenness and addiction to alcohol that a Christian must absolutely refrain from (Ephesians 5:18; 1 Corinthians 6:12).

I am a christian and an alcohol and tobaco free person. However, I do not think that drinking alcohol is a sin. Instead, the sin comes when someone looses control of himself and does something else that does qualify as a sin. Also, I would consider it to be a sin if one was drinking and it was harming someone just for the fact that he/she is drinking but not otherwise.

hope it helps.

No it is not.

Wine was always used ,and the Scriptures only condemn its excessive use. Paul once recommends its use to Timothy (1 Tim v.23)

I think most Christians would not drink at all because the Spirit of God dwells within them. If they did, it would be in moderation. Be not drunk with wine or any other alcoholic beverages that may cause you to stumble.

Jesus' first miracle was turing water into wine at a wedding. I don't believe that it is a sin for Christians to drink, but I do believe that the thoughts and actions of someone who has had too much to drink can be sinful.

Interesting question. On one hand,Jesus turned the water into wine, and Paul advised Timothy to drink wine for his infirmities (1 Tim 5:23).But on the other hand, you have verses like this:
“Wine is a mocker, strong drink a brawler, And whoever is intoxicated by it is not wise” ~Proverbs 20:1
Scripture states not to get intoxicated. So,it seems like a little alcohol is okay.
Still,I have made a personal choice to not drink.

It is a sin to be drunk, but comsuming a little alcohol is not listed as a sin..
It is not smart for a Christian to drink alcohol. Alcohol is our #1 drug problem.. and we should be the answer not part of the problem.

No it is not a sin to drink alcohol in moderation, but drinking large amounts and losing control of oneself is sinful.

No, not at all. No where in the Bible does it say that Christians shouldn't drink.

It does, however, state that drunkeness should not get drunk. 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 "What! Do YOU not know that unrighteous persons will not inherit God’s kingdom? Do not be misled. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men kept for unnatural purposes, nor men who lie with men, nor thieves, nor greedy persons, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit God’s kingdom. And yet that is what some of YOU were. But YOU have been washed clean, but YOU have been sanctified, but YOU have been declared righteous in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ and with the spirit of our God."

It shows a lack of self-control. Galatians 5:22 "On the other hand, the fruitage of the spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faith, 23 mildness, self-control. Against such things there is no law."

Well since Christians are believers in the Old and New Testament as the true word of God. I do not see why they would consider it a sin when God did not consider it a sin when Noah grew vineyards and got drunk!
