I have a vacation to Cancun booked for the end of June and probably wont have my passport on time. I applied for it weeks ago requesting normal service which they say is now 10-12 weeks. It's virtually impossible to contact the passport agency to try to get it expedited and I dont live near a passport service center. What would happen if I traveled without it and tried to return to the US?

sucks dude, you probably wont even make it into cancun. I did mine last week expidited. So glad I did that. I guess you could try to see the nearest passport agency in person.. Closest I know in the northeast is 10 Causeway St. Boston, MA

You won't even get out of the country. I'm very sorry but I'm afraid you're either going to have to suffer the hold music or travel to the nearest passport office.

Check the website. I got mine within 2 days of the predicted arrival date per the website. Good Luck.

well can't leave the states. No pass port, no fun. You have to have a passport to come into the states.

It would the same as if you didn't have a plane ticket. You will not get in the country.
