I don't think it is anti-Semitic, it is what they have the right to do. Any country can impose sanctions against another if they feel it to be in accordance with their values. If Jews can do things that are wrong, there should be no surprise to us when someone turns their backs on us. Not everyone supports Zionism, I am a Jew and I do not.

The Israeli academic institutions must show the world that they do not support Israeli occupation and the collective punishment of the entire Palestinian civilian population. Israeli academic institutions must play a role in peace finding its about time they do 59 years of war and no peace is a good and needy reasons for peace research from an academic point of view where are the Israeli academics are they members of the IDF too.

I think that this boycott is simply hypocrite.
Any academic boycott is wrong and anti-academic in its essence, but why now, why Israel? Millions of people are dying in Africa, women are exploited all over the world, everyday people get killed in Iraq, Sudan, North Korea… Why now, why Israel?
I'm afraid that it has more to do with political interests than actual morals.
It is only ironic that the bored academics in Britain chose to boycott Israel now, when the missile attacks from Gaza are in their peak.

I think it's neither anti-semitic nor justified. It's a little absurd to single out Israel, both in this conflict and throughout the world. I mean, Russia recently assassinated a British citizen using radiation. It seems like that's more worthy of a British boycott to me. While it doesn't really impact my life, I find it insulting. I think it's very snooty and conceited of them, and it makes Britain look like a pretty reprehensible place to me.

It's absurd and hypocritical, just like the British attitude to Israel so often is.
But frankly, what's happening here in the UK at present is all so illogical, I'm not even surprised. Every day increasingly bizarre decisions are made - see my question in current events in five minutes!

I'm an American citizen... I don't see the U.K. boycott as really accomplishing anything.
Still, it's their country and their right to do as they please. The rest of us can get along without the British.

I think that the boycott is anti-Semitic. Even if one thinks that Israel is one most reprehensible regimes in the world, to single out Israel for boycott but to ignore places like Russia, China and Sudan (which are both guilty of grave rights abuses against Chechens, Tibetans/Uighurs, and Darfurians, respectively) speaks of hypocrisy at the very least.
Sari Nussiebeh, head of Al Quds University said it best:
"“An international academic boycott of Israel, on pro-Palestinian grounds, is self-defeating: It would only succeed in weakening that strategically important bridge through which the state of war between Israelis and Palestinians could be ended and Palestinian rights could therefore be restored. Instead of burning that bridge, the international academy should do everything within its power to strengthen it.”"

Disgraceful.
This is a clear violation of the principle of academic freedom.
And in addition, the Israelis are right and deserve support rather than condemnation.
