We're not 'morally superior", although we keep telling ourselves that we are.
Here's some more questions:
"How is it possible that political reporters routinely and without irony refer to people who have no moral qualms about bombing another country as a matter of choice rather than necessity as "values voters"? How do those same people wear the "values" label even while supporting one of the last death penalties in the industrialized world? How is it that self-proclaimed "Men of God" can call for the assassination of foreign heads of state, blame the 9/11 attacks on Americans' promiscuity and lobby to keep vaccines against deadly cancers out of the hands of young women and still claim to represent the moral compass of spiritual America?"

It is the "Peter Principle" indeed. I asked a question earlier which angered almost every Christian that answered - I asked if Jesus was, in fact, a fornicator? Why did I ask this? This one wasn't even meant humorously. From what I have read in the Bible and on Christian websites, Jesus most likely had at least one son with Mary Magdalene and yet both also claim that there is no proof Jesus ever married. This would certainly make him a fornicator. Guess what? I got egged with insults and told that a fornicator was "some who has sex outside of their marriage". When I tried to define 'fornicator' correctly, the insults became fierce. No Christian actually gave me a good answer (or admitted that it was at ALL possible Jesus may not have been perfect). I think Jesus would be disgusted with the way Christians portray him and tell them to lighten up. Crazy.
My point is (which I always seem to be getting to;-) that people define words in a way that is pleasing to them, and religious extremists tend to do it more than anyone. To them, "morality" is some set of rules that they hardly follow in a book written 2,000 years ago. This country moving forward is a threat to them because it is so much easier to remain ignorant and takes so much less work. It's really sad. The word 'morality' in and of itself cannot be absolutely pre-defined by anyone but I think it's pretty clear to most people. What kind of morals do those who insult us for not believing in everything they do have? Few to none. And yet these same people run the country and tell us how to live OUR lives? THAT is an abomination to all mankind.
The more I stay here in America, the more I wish to move to a Scandinavian country where the morality lies in helping others and not condemning them, and has the economy to prove why this is necessary. Most of Europe doesn't have the antiquated laws that we do, and most of the people scoff at those who want to deny equal rights to homosexuals or define abortion as "murder" and yet beat their children or never consider adopting for selfish reasons.
Argh! This place is a nightmare this evening. Thank you for asking such a thought-provoking question.

We are not morally superior. We have sunk to a low level. Our culture has been corrupted.
It has nothing to do with the "Peter Principle". It was brought about by people and organizations who do not agree with the Christian Culture that this nation was founded on. They have infiltrated the media, the institutions and government. The promote their propaganda in the schools, and on TV.
As a result of this decadence, we are losing our freedom. We are accepting regimentation and controls. We show our papers, just like in Nazi Germany. Many feel that we have to justify our actions to our public servants, who act more like our masters.

This different person can inhabit your comparable physique on condition that's what we do as quickly as we create personas around our spirit. we start to have self belief that we are the promptly A student, who's regular, lovable and has a extensive sort of friends, or the pimply, nerd, who walks the halls staring on the floor. We exchange into those human beings completely, and that they do no longer look to be us in any respect, basically impostors. we are organic divine love, god and goddess, manifested in human sort.

Indeed. The more "morally superior" the Christian extremists try and make the US the more it goes down hill. I'm 100 % sure if those theocratic thumpers got complete control, we'd turn into a third world country in under 20 years.

"Morally superior?" Where did THAT come from? Who made the determination the US is "morally superior"? Moral superiority comes from pride and ego. How can one be superior when Christians are taught to be humble?

I think we've become very self-conscious about the fact that we have uniquely high crime, uniquely low life expectancy for the poor, and a troubling habit in military adventures. The manifestation of that self-consciousness is unfortunately defensiveness and denial.

The USA is only morally superior to a flea. And even then, only a drunken flea who shags his sister.

It shouldn't be a Christian nation. Sorry, but it's true. Not everyone in the U.S. is Christian and not everyone wants to be.
We should be aloud to marry whoever we want, no matter the gender. That is a huge problem in the U.S. Christians wont mind their own business about that.
It's close-minded Christians like that, that piss me off. Stop condeming people!!!

To suggest that the U.S. is becoming more "moral" in light of all the things that are taking place in our nation is to be ignorant of what God's definition of morality says.
Abortion continues essentially unchecked.
Homosexuality not only is accepted but is celebrated.
In many public schools it is forbidden to mention anything of Christianity while other religions are described in social studies classes.
Marriage is becoming disposable.
The definition of a family has degenerated to the point where any two carbon-based lifeforms will soon have the "right" to raise children (despite their genetic ability to bear them).
Our government creates give-away programs without enough emphasis on how to get off of them. There is not much incentive to "make your own way" in this life.
The list goes on and on. This is not a nation of strengthening moral fiber. Do not be surprised that God is pulling His protective hand away from the U.S.
We cannot continue to ignore our descent into immorality and complain that God (or the belief in Him) is causing all of our problems.
