I'm trying to branch out from the bucket-over-your head, use-the-force Luke Skywalker technique, which quite frankly is getting a little boring. Should I combine it with a little yoga or Pilates? Maybe some Tai Chi? Perhaps some bar-room brawl technique?

Personally, I am a bit old-school when it comes to _Star Wars_. If you are going to be doing light-saber dueling (regardless of what you use as a stand in for the Jedi technology), I'd have to say some kendo would work out well, it is what the late Sir Alec Guiness used in his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi.

If you are looking for more than just sword-play...you might also want to look into something called "parkour" simply because Jedi have a habit of needing to run and jump around a fair bit (this being the case especially in Episodes 4, 5, and 6, or the three films that played first). And if you haven't quite worked out how to use the Force as yet, you'll need to know how to safely jump and roll so you don't hurt yourself.

I hope this helps, and may the Force be with you! ^_^

Well, being that the light saber has nearly infinite power. i.e. touch and your toast. The closest thing to that is the Japanese swords (iaito, shinken, tachi, etc...). Also, you've got all that Force stuff as an interest. The best thing for you would be an Iwama ryu Aikido school.

Hrrrrrrrm....use your aggressive feelings Girl! Also id recommend taking a leaf out of the Japanese book, only with a modern twist. Take a couple of the most stupid contributors on answers each day and use them to evaluate your sabres cutting power....

Seriously, check out wicked lasers.com. You want a 50mw green one. Powerful enough to sting on your skin or leave a mark if you let it idle on your skin or clothes. Outside, at night, it will leave a visible beam in the air. It is powerful enough to reach out and touch a satellite in low earth orbit. I got mine. You get yours. Put on your red glasses and you will get practice uh... fighting me off.
