Oh my, can we talk about some other driver winning races and championships besides Jeff Gordon or any of the other drivers on the Hendrick team? I swear, some of you people act like there are only 4 drivers in NASCAR: Gordon, Johnson, Kyle Busch & Mears. And "NO" I don't think he will get to that point, and the championship he will NOT win this year... a REAL MAN is going to win it this year!!!

I doubt it, I am a Gordon fan, but the competition is just to stiff and the young drivers are getting better and better, he set the bar by his early success, but the talent is growing and will soon surpass him in all aspects in racing. He's already talking about retirement, so he wont be around much longer, at least not long enough to win 7 or 8 championships.

I think 8-time champion is stretching it. I think Jeff could be a 7-time champion. Remember, he has tough competiition in Hendrick Motorsports, the chevrolet camp, and Roush Racing. I think if he gets to seven titles, he will be viewed as the greatest driver of the 90's and 2000's.

As much of a Gordon fan as I am, I think even 7 will be a stretch. The depth of competition and the testing $ that several teams are spending are just too tough for those kind of championship numbers today.
But, I'll be rooting him on during his drive for 5!

I began life as a Jr fan. I'm English and FED UP with the yawnfest that is F1 - are they ALLOWED to race or overtake any longer???
Anyway... Jeff has turned things around in the past two years - since he failed to get in the Chase - and is more aggressive and seems to have gained a lot of respect. My opinions of him have altered dramatically. Jimmie Johnson has assumed the mantle of NASCAR's robot now, and Jeff is the elder statesman who's not afraid to bang around occasionally.
I don't think he'll get to 7 - but he'll get 5, maybe 6.

Already talking about Jeff retierment? He's only in his midthirties! I think he has a good chance for 6 or 7, not 8 though. It's too much to dream for.

Very possible, although the competition is very tough, and seems to get tougher each year. I do know you won't have to worry about any Burtons ever winning one!!!! You Kids need to go to the nursery page of Q&A.
Hayden, the only reason there's more talk about his crash rather than wins; Is because up to this point, it's the only thing any anti Gordon fan has had to celebrate. That talk will be gone after thins week anyway.

I think he can but he won't. Yeah he's 1st in points now, but what matters is who's first in points at the end, and it wont be Jeff Gordon. Sorry Jeff Gordon fans, maybe next year.

Not unless he wins them as an owner. He has too many odds stacked against him to reach 7 or 8 as a driver...although I wish he would. But in reality, only 5 or maybe he can squeak out 6 before retiring.

Dude! Are you for real? Jeff Gordon is gonna go down hill majorly after baby girl gets here. I feel for her already, poor innocent thing hasn't even been born yet... of course he wouldn't have no baby on the way had Ingrid not taught him what "hole" to put it in rather than up Dale Jr's. Hahaha. No, he ain't gonna win crap. He's gotten more talk about him slammin the wall last weekend over any race he's won this year.
