To all of you that got "sucked in" with this story...Turns out the "PIG" was not a wild Feral Pig after all...But was a domesticated farm raised Pig, that was recently purchased and released on the farm it was killed on just a few weeks ago. The "Kid" shot this Hog eight times with a Smith & Wesson 500 caliber revolver...More powerful than a .44 Magnum. This caliber/ pistol can penetrate 1/2" thick cold rolled steel from 50 yards away. Big Pig...But somebody's former pet..Hardly a "wild" one........

Can you provide a link to the proof that is was "staged" as you so say? They admitted openly it was taken in a wildlife preserve, at least that's what I read online on abc. I don't know. It seems pretty out there, but I don't think it has to be fake or staged simply because it is so freakishly huge. Why can't fellow hunters just be happy for this kid's hunt?
To the woman who stated he shot it with a tiny "gun". I call hoax on you, as I doubt you are a professional hunter as you state. If you were, I would think you would have known enough to call it a firearm. You'd also know that the particular revolver he used is by no means "tiny". Even without magnum loads, the .500 S&W has very effective stopping power. The fact that it took 8 shots (that's the only report I've heard thus far) shows just what a beast a feral pig this size is.

It was a very large hog. The size of it was manipulated by a simple camera trick. The camera was close to the hog to fill the frame, and then the kid in the background was probably kneeling about 10 feet back from the hog. It was a very large hog, but you can tell something is fishy. If it was what they said it was, then why were they so hasty to destroy it. It has already been turned into sausage. Seems like they were trying to hide something by destroying the eveidence. In the hogzilla case near Adel GA, they buried the hog, and when it was exhumed they found out it wasn't quite as large as it had been told. All this is just another fish tale.

Something Piggy or is it Fishy about that story,so large a porker living on such a small chunk of land and not meeting a trophy hunter before.Gonna take a lot of eggs to go with that porky, the kid will need a chicken farm now and then watch out for the cholesterol.

As far as wild pigs go they are pests and hunting them is allowed as long as you have a permit, but this kid shot the pig like 6 times with a tiny gun, and had to follow it for some time before it actually died, that to me is very in humane, it should be illegal and he should be procecuted for animal cruelty.
As a professional, licenced wild game hunter, I am outraged that this kid is bragging about this kill and how it was killed, If you study the photo you can see he has hit it in the chest and in the stomach, and the pig took a long time to die.
Professionaly we will only take a shot at a pig if we are 100% sure it will die quickly and humanely, with as little stress as possible.
I know a lot of people are against hunting, but pigs in particular are introduced pests. They kill young livestock, distroy crops and fight native animals for food.
They have almost no preditors and are at the top of the food chain. They are also in plague proportions in some areas, and the reality is, if proper hunters dont get to them first, farmers will posion and trap them, leading to a worst death.

Fact is hogs on 150 acres can ruin a farm. I know farmers that are glad hunters will come and help eradicate these feral pigs.
The monster of which you speak was a feral hog. One that likely escaped from a farm or was 2nd generation of an escaped hog. This boar could sire a lot of other vermin hogs in a year.

Have you ever toured a 150 acre overgrown area? Pack water and food.

I was pretty happy to bag a 230 lb hog in Feb, 2007. This boar was huge. Can't imagine a 1000 lb hog surviving in the wild undetected. I don't believe this is real. Also it belittles my kill if indeed true :-(
