I started to eat a few potato chips because I saw my Mom eating them and they looked good, but then I ate too many. What should you do when you go over your calorie limit? Should I eat less tomorrow? =(

Oops I meant to say *you* instead of your.

Learn from the guilt...

Whatever you do to address that guilt, depends on you.

Of course, you can just forget, live your life as usual and move on, and try to stick to your limit the next time.

Just don't overdo it...

One day isn't too bad.

If you are really concerned try walking or running for 30 minutes the next day. Running 1 mile burns about 100 calories. Remember dieting and watching what you eat isn't the only way to lose or maintain weight. You could burn 400 calories a day through exercise and then eat 400 calories more to balance it out.

Edit:
how come all answers have a thumbs down except one... and what does that mean?

Yeah, you've got the right idea. Say for example, that you ate about 200 calories of chips OVER your daily calorie limit. It's good you recognized that you overate a bit so come tomorrow just cut out about 100 calories from 2-3 of your meals and your back at square one.

If you think about it, eliminating 100 calories from 2-3 meals tomorrow sure beats being surprised by the scale 2 weeks from now.

Eat well!

A popular potato chip manufacturer advertises by saying, "You can't eat just one." Seems as though you are living proof of that. When something tastes good, it's natural to want more and more and more. It's okay to occasionally over-indulge, even if you're on a diet, as long as you don't do it every day. Don't let this slip-up destroy your diet plan. Just go back to eating normally the next day, or beef up your activity level.

I take it you are on a diet. Stop blaming your mom for your impulsiveness. Just chalk it tonite and start again again tomorrow. Also if your dieting, chips shouldnt be on the menu.

Analyze how it makes you feel. Then, commit to not do it again. that does not mean that you wont ever do it again. But, just recommit yourself.
