I have a question about forgiveness. According to many of the answers of this question

no matter what one does in life, if they repent and ask god for forgiveness they will go to heaven. So does this mean that I can be a horrible, mean, murdering, raping, child molesting, drug dealing, adulterous, greedy prostitute and then, on my death bed, ask for forgiveness and go to heaven?
If you ask me, that just seems ridiculous and VERY flawed.

I don't believe in divine forgiveness, so no you won't get into a good afterlife if you are a bad person. More over your fondest dream will never come true, and everything you did will be done to you either in this life or the next. But that's the difference between Wiccan and Christianity.

If you have done these things then seriously understand that doing any of these things is wrong. And you seriously ask God for forgiveness then you will be forgiven. Waiting on a death bed to ask for forgiveness would be a dangerous thing to do because a very low percentage die on a death bed.
Most die suddenly and unexpectedly. You cant just live how you want and expect forgiveness. Repentance has to come from the heart this is not flawed at all

Don't forget, God knows the thought and intent of the heart. There is more to salvation than just repenting. God can forgive on your deathbed, but that does not mean you are ready for heaven. Forgiveness does not make a person ready for heaven, but ready for the next step. He that cometh to God must first believe that He is. If you believe, then you will be baptized and follow Acts 2:38, as the scripture says. We never need to judge others, because God is the judge and the only one who can judge the heart. You might do all those sins, but you might die before you repent. God is just, and even allows anyone to repent.

That it is kind of messed up isn't it? The trick is that God can actually see through to the person's sincertiy and motive. Repentence is necessary from the person asking for forgiveness. Repent means to turn away from, a desire to truly change direction. The avoidance of consequence is not true repentance. Only God could assess this motive, and that's why he's called a Just God. Jesus set this example for us with the criminal on the cross.

If the qualifications were being good, where would you draw the line?

First you must REPENT. Repentance is much more than casually saying " I'm sorry". To truly be repentant or sorry, it costs you something of yourself. Sometimes, depending on the situation, it can cause you shame, guilt, a deep sense of recognition of the harm you have caused. It is not a casual thing such as bumping into someone in the checkout line and saying " I'm sorry", when most likely what you should be saying is "excuse me". However, if when you bumped into this person and caused him or her to drop a young baby to the floor thus causing serious injury, you would expect to feel badly about yourself for the harm you had caused, thus you would be "sorry"

Once you have established true sorrow for the actions or deeds you have become sorry for, you must turn away from doing them again.

You must also sincerly believe that Jesus is the son of God, that He died for our sins, and that He arose from the grave. This is essential to Christianity.

While the Bible does teach that all of us and all sins (except blasphemy) can be forgiven, it is not a child's game of simply saying " I'm sorry".

It may seem flawed if you do not grasp the concept that the purpose of Jesus, His life, His death and His resurrection was simply to reconcile us to God. Once someone grasps that......it moves from being flawed to being a true gift.

My response to your question is that if you did all of those things than you better hope that God gives you the chance to repent on your death bed. If He does mercifully give you the oppurtunity to repent and you do not truly empty your heart and accept Him than it won't matter. The best example is to go straight to the source, the Holy Bible. Two thieves were crucified with Christ. One of them repented as he hung on his cross and Jesus acknowledge that the thief would be with Him in Heaven. The other thief did not take the oppurtunity so as a result was not forgiven and is not in Heaven.

Finally, please, before you jump to judge the rationale of God or the Bible, research for yourself and ask God to help you clarify the answer to your question.

It's all about your intention. If you go out and do all the horrible things and come back asking for forgiveness but not truly meaning it and then continue on with it - then obviously God knows you aren't being sincere in your heart that you are truly sorry. Yes we tend to committ the same mistakes again and again but if we sincerely try not to and work at it God knows this. If we come to Him repentant and truly sorry then we are forgiven.

That is a hard question. I think that if you truly want to go to heaven, then you must love God. If you love God, then you will not do these horrid things. I think that it isn't as simple as saying, "I'm sorry, let me in" It has to come from your heart. You must truly be sorry for what you have done, and not just sorry you got caught. I also think that if you are a good, decent, caring person, you will go to Heaven, no matter what your religious beliefs are.

Yet in God's economy the blood of Jesus Christ is what happens at the moment of repentence like it happened to the thief on the cross.

Are you stating that some people are beyond forgiveness even though they truly repent !!!

As long as you are truly sorry and honest about your sins then yes, God will show mercy and you will go to heaven. Also you would have to truly believe in God and Jesus to get in also.
