when you babysit, TALK to the ppl you are sitting for..... ask questions about safty measures they take..... emergency numbers, who lives close that you can call and trust if something happens..... are the locks secure on windows and doors ??? if you have a real problem, then only sit for some one who is close to home...... no more than, say , a mile from your home..... or with in a mile of police station...... God bless

Maybe you could have a girlfriend go with you the first few times until you get a handle on your fear. If you continue to be fearful, then don't babysit, or maybe do it at your house or only during the day. Try not to dwell on your fear. While bad things happen every day all over the world, don't imagine yourself as a victim. I believe that a lot more people go through life without experiencing trauma. I don't personally know anyone who that happened to, do you? You'll be okay.

I have known of lots of people who have been/are babysitters and that has never happened to them before. "When A Stranger Calls" is just a movie to make you think, "Oh my gosh!" and be at the edge of your seat. It's for entertainment purposes, not to scare people from becoming a babysitter. Even so, you do have a point. It's always good to know what to do in a bad situation so you are prepared IF it were to happen. You'd carry a cellphone with you and call 911 after getting the kid(s) somewhere safe with you-whether it be the neighbors or a friend's house.
But seriously, you shouldn't let a movie keep you from doing what you would like to do. I'm sure the people who created "When A Stranger Calls" made the movie for entertainment and not to keep people from babysitting.

'Hope I helped!

No, stuff like that doesn't happen all the time. They make movies like that because young people enjoy being scared in the movie theater. Babysitting can be a perfectly safe occupation if you do it right. Read up on the safety precautions you should take. After all, nobody would want their children to be babysat if it were really that dangerous.
Some places actually give classes in babysitting and you can get a certificate. That would enable you to charge more.

Start babysitting and get a cell phone for added security and no one can cut the cell phone line. Just remember the numbers 911 and you will be fine. Good luck!
