As a former Captain, US Army I will tell you definitively that the Army is not his mommy or pappy and certainly not his bail bondsman. He will face his civilian charges and then face military court marshal. If he happened to be a very good soldier otherwise who was in the good graces with his 1st SGT and Company CO or higher, one of them might go to bat for him if the charges were drunk and disorderly or simple assault or something (I did that couple of times), but I doubt anyone will help if the charge is larceny or something like that. The chaplain might help you get him representation but even that is a long shot.

While I was in the military and you were arrested by civilian authorities, the judge would usually release you into the custody of a military officer, and depending on the severity of the crime, the arrested could be incarcerated on post, restricted to barracks, etc. If the crime was a major felony like murder, rape, armed robbery, or involved severe property damage, then the civilian authorities would detain him. But I never heard of any one having to post a bail or bond if they were in the military when arrested.

NO. he will have to do his time or post bail himself. and then when the Local law gets done with him, the Army may pick him up and charge him with their own charges, most likely stemming from all the work and training he missed by being in jail.

Army? Bail? LOL.
About the only thing he can do is see the chaplain and have his TS card punched.
In the Military, you have no rights. Just a choice to do right or wrong.

If you get arrested for a crime while in the army. I believe you have to serve a regular sentence like everyone else. Even worse though is that you might get the boot from the army because of a criminal record.

You kidding right, when my father was in the Military he almost got an Archol 15 for showing up 3 minutes late to a drill.

I believe this guy will be kicked out.

No they do not pay bail, and if he does get out from this jail, the army police (MP) will most likely arrest him for violation of his duty

Sorry but no.
They will pick him up the last day. Then they will court martial him - usually he will serve another couple of months in military prison & then a dishonorable discharge. They take the honor code very serious.

My husband who is a 21yr veteran said NO.
But with persuasion you can serve in a military jail rather than a civilian jail.

If he's in a civilian jail he needs to be thankful. No they do not post bail.
