Have you placed an Ad in your local paper? My friends boyfriends daughter was 16 when she got pregnant carried the child to term and gave the little girl up to a family she picked. She interviewed the family visited their home and so forth and picked them to raise her baby. They paid all legal fee's as well as medical bills for the baby (the daughter was covered under her fathers insurance) she gets photos of the little girl once a yr and is allowed to send photos and gifts for her birthday and xmas and at 18 the baby will meet her birth mom. I think it is a great situation and I wish you luck.

there are definitely ways to adopt a baby without an agency. try calling an adoption lawyer for starters. it also varies a lot depending on what state you live in, what state the birth mother lives in, and may even change depending on what state the baby is born in. one thing to keep in mind is that when you don't use an agency, you are probably at greater risk. For instance, I adopted a baby 11 years ago and went through an agency and paid what I thought was a large amount. The point was that that fee covered everything, even if the birthmother changed her mind and decided to keep the baby. The agency would not charge me again but, would still be responsible for placing a baby with me. If you do an idependent adoption, it is possible that you will pay many expenses of the birthmother's and if she gives up her baby to you -- great. However, she is under no obligation to do so or to return any money you gave her. Then you need to start over again and pay another birhtmother and this could go on and cost a lot. the agencies take some of the risks and that's why they charge more. there is nothing wrong with independent adoptions but sometimes the risks are different. good luck!

I will tell you how we adopted our son. It might work for you.
We prepared a resume, medical and family information included. on the two of us and a cover letter to go along with it, sharing the medical problems that stopped our having a second child. Our daughter was nearly 6 by this time. Needless to say you must include your job situations and financial situation.
We requested that should they have an expectant Mother planning to place their baby for adoption, we would be most interested. Needless to say we listed our Name and Phone number. But also we Listed our Lawyers name address and Phone number. If I remember we included a picture of the three of us and made sure that we shared extended family information.
It took about four months and two fell through, but the final Mother chose us. He is a fabulous adult with his own daughter now.
We mailed this package to about 25 Ob Gyns that had big practices.
We brought him home from the hospital (actually our lawyer and wife did) about 6 months after the letters went out.
Whether this would work currently I am not sure. But if we were still trying, I would do this again. We did this in 1976.
Good Luck.

Please go to a licensed agency or AAAA Adoption Attorney who can make sure the birthmother has counseling, and can provide her with needed housing or other required services she may need. You cannot. And then she will be reassured that you have gone through all the necessary counseling, education and background checks to assure her that the parents of her child are the very best!

Try using an agency. Soliciting a birth mother over the Internet is against the law.

http://www.parentprofiles.com is an excellent site. Bear in mind though that whether an adoption is open or closed is usually up to the birth mother. Also you need a homestudy before you can use parentprofiles, if you don't already have one find a social worker here- http://home-study.adoption.com/
Good luck!

Place a ad, birth mom will come looking for you. Usually it's harder to find a birth mom without using an agency.

I am against adoption unless it is absolutely necessary and it is done under the purest circumstances without any viable alternative after all alternatives have been exhausted.
